anyone else have AF and MAD (mitral annular disjunction) . It was picked up during cardiac MRI. The displacement is 5mm, mild mitral valve prolapse and regurgitation. Neither my cardiologist or EP have said anything about it apart from put me on another very long waiting list to see a more specialist cardiologist. Dr google is very scary on this subject so wondering if anyone else can share their experiences. I am starting to increase my exercise intensity, but not sure if this is safe, I feel fine and it doesn’t increase AF episodes.

AF and MAD
Google can be an excellent source of information but always leans towards the extreme rather than the norm, I have found. Also the heart and an individual's cardiac and health history is so complex and varied that it isn't possible to find an exact answer to a specific case. I know nothing of this condition but I have just read a study that seemed to be suggesting that the long term aspects were likely okay but seemed rather dependent on other medical factors and especially age.
I would have a chat with your doctors, for sure.

Not sure exercise will help. If valves are leaking might just cause more issues. I had 2 valves repaired 12/21. Had mitral valve regurgitation and was told without repair it would only get worse with possible dire consequences. So, I'd be inclined to pay for private consultation to ask all you need to know. to make decisions.
Valves are slightly prolapsed, only mild regurgitation at the moment. Having a repeat echo tomorrow so hopefully will get some more answers. 3 cardiologists have seen the cMRI showing MAD and not mentioned it, on a waiting list for another specialist to look into it, seems MAD is not well understood, but likely to be months before I see him. Been told I can exercise, just don’t overdo it, problem is I don’t know what overdoing it means as used to train for competition. I hope everything is going well after your valve repair, I hope it doesn’t come to that for me, the thought of ablation is scary enough
