High pressure
My potassium is a tad above the upper limit (I was eating bananas while ill so no surprise there), my total
cholesterol
is fine but my
HDL
was low – probably accounted for by following a no-dairy, no processed food, vegan diet.

Post AVR and blood pressure.
Hi, I'm five months post AVR and mostly doing well. When I was discharged I wasn't taking any of my previous medication for high blood pressure. Great, I thought, it must have been the stenosed bicuspid old valve that was making my blood pressure rise. My blood pressure has gradually risen again to higher

Endocrinologist visit
Happy Healthy New Year to all Can I please ask your advice again from the recent report from visiting an endocrinologist. Bloods taken with medication 6 hours before, I know I should have not taken them. No Vitamin as yet but it was low on last blood test results. My question is on the recommendation

Was sent for a blood test for Renal Profile (UE), Liver Profile (LFT), Bone Profile (BONE), Thyroid (TSH), FBC (F), HbA1c (A1C) Fasting Lipids (FL), LDL,
HDL
and all have come back fine (
cholesterol
ratio was 3.2) Again told its in my head and to take atenlol to lower the blood pressure but I didn't

To statin, or not to statin...creatine kinase and lp/a levels normal
My total
cholesterol
is 7.7, LDL is 5.4 and
HDL
2.3. I have been told by the lipid clinic I must go on 20mg of atorvastatin. Thing is I don't really understand why, and the consultant seemed too busy to answer me.

Going round in Circles!
My last TSH was 23.5. Cholesterol 7.8. Finally got referred to an endocrinologist who wasn't a bit concerned at the results but said it could be supplements I was taking interfering with readings. He asked if I was talking statins for cholesterol but I said I was waiting for my thyroid to settle as that

"New" non-statin lipid lowering drug?
In Australia, we don't get much TV advertising for drugs (unlike the US where it is rampant!) - but advertising for a drug called RAYDEL ( Policosanol ) has started. I note that the Company uses the word "may" when promoting it's product (this should always be read as "may - or may not" . This study

Lab Results: ACR and Lipids
Hi everyone: I got my Lab Results back. HDL: 1.04 mmol/L (Normal) LDL: 4.09 mmol/L (High) Triglycerides: 4.80 mmol/L (more than twice above normal level) They can't even calculate total cholesterol due to high triglycerides. ACR: 59.2 mg/mmol, Macroalbuminuria, making me high risk of further kidney damage
