“emergency room” PT 2 - amantadine, benadryl and tremor dominant prognosis

Irregular heart beat
My husband has had Parkinsons for 6 years. He takes Sinemet and entacapone. Shortly after taking his medication (every 3hours) he feels very weak . When I check his BP it is often very low and shows "irregular heart beat" I feel it is the medication rather than "off" time. I don't often contribute to

Have you considered DBS? It is recommended for people with midstage PD who for whom meds are no longer working well!
Don't wait too long to get DBS--' if you're Parkinson's gets too severe it won't work as well . Also you might not get accepted into a program - if Sinemet stops working entirely you won't be able to find a program that will take you! There are surgeons around that can do DBS on you when you are asleep

Knowledge is Power: understanding our medications.
Since having PD I have become just a little obsessed with reading and understanding all I can about it and this is a bit of what I have learned. I hope it is useful to somebody. I was going to put some of this in a reply post but it is general information. It is not meant to be advice about your

Tips on Taking Your Medications

sinemet constipation
May be coincidental. No constipation since starting sinemet last Sunday, 4 days regular bowel movement and twice yesterday. I keep a record of my bowel movement so that leads me to believe the credit goes to sinemet. I will take that symptom, if it continues, to my discussion with my neuro on the 24th

Macuna
Has any medical professional or pharmacologist suggested what the dosage should be for macuna? Also can you take sinemet with this product and are there any reactions to taking both of them?

"A Type of Parkinson's that Does Not Respond to Any Medications"...the neurologist said about my dad. Anyone know about this?
My dad, who's about 70 and diagnosed with PD about 10 year ago was told by his 2nd neurologist that he has a type of Parkinson's that "does not respond to any of the medications". He suggested sending my dad to Vanderbilt Research Hospital (I think for possible surgery, which thoroughly scared both

Bradykinesia
I was diagnosed with PD 2 years ago, non-tremor and am just on Selegiline. At diagnosis I tried Madopar and later on Sinemet, looking back I think the drs then had me increase the dosage too quickly and soon I felt so ill I was unable to work. Not nauseous but completely fatigued, sweaty, felt terrible

Simemet
My Doc just put me on Simemet and lowered my neopro patch to 2 mg. I had started on LDN this week and wondered if I should hold of on the sinemet to see how the LDN does.

CHANGING DIAGNOSIS
Hi all, Took hubby to the neuro yesterday for her to test whether or not the sinemet is helping or not. She gave him the lower dose of what he is on and then after an hour decided the med does not make a difference in his condition and I disagree. She wants me to take him off of it completely, slowly

My father is a 76 year old who was dx with PD. He does not have any tremors, just really bad stiffness & his joints crack all the time. He loses balance & has fallen a couple of times. Taking Parkinson's meds with food
Hi all. I'd imagine not everyone is fully aware that taking Parkinson's medications, such as Sinemet or Madopar, ought NOT to be taken, according to the information given in the following link, at the same time as eating a meal with protein in it. The information seems compelling and, to me, even quite
