My daughter is 30 When she was a child we went through genetic testing at the Christie Hospital as her paternal great aunt and paternal aunt had both died of ovarian cancer and her paternal grandfather had died of prostate cancer The conclusion was that my daughter is 50% more likely to get ovarian

What I see where my vision is impaired
I was told that without some type of
genetic
test
that it's difficult to know whether or not it is adult onset or Best's Disease. At that time, I had never heard of this condition.

Endocronologist experience
Hi there, I recently had a top end and very experienced endocrinologist tell me that the 1.6mcg of levo per KG in weight was an old fashioned and outdated theory. Is this the case? I have just upped to 100mcg and was just wondering if I’m on the right dose. He seems to think that’s ok for me.

update to original post regarding heart failure and private consultations with cardiologist.
Update two weeks after being told I had heart failure by my GP following a routine echocardiogram. Appointment this morning with private cardiologist went well but unfortunately the last echocardiogram I had 1-2 months ago was correct. I arrived at the the appointment with a copy of my most recent

Hello folks, this is me here :-) My mother had and my 3 siblings and I still share a history of hypothyroidism. Each of us takes levothyroxine on a daily basis, except my mother died a few months ago at the age of 90 after many years of slow physical and cognitive decline. I've been taking it for

Hello, everyone. During the last few months, while waiting for my father's scans to be done, I have read hundreds of posts and profiles of people on this board. I have been trying to gain some knowledge and courage to face the situation in front of me, often searching for the most difficult cases

Prolaris Test Helps ID Higher-risk Patients Who May Safely Skip ADT when receiving radiation for PCa
"Prolaris is a
genetic
test
that predicts the aggressiveness of prostate cancer — can accurately identify which men with intermediate- or high-risk disease will benefit from adding androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) to standard radiation therapy, a study shows.

ART The Role of Genetic Testing in Prostate Cancer
Summary; a short, clear explanation of genetic testing with clarifications for what is Genomic/ Somatic versus Germline testing. Of interest to me was the need to conduct testing of PCa patients to determine who to aggressively manage/ treat. Germline testing with high penetrance marker identification

Here I go.
So the beast has returned - In summary, after a 2 year ADT vaca, my PSA started to climb so i was tracking it monthly. I also got to Mayo and they did a PSMA/CAT in october (PSA=0.2)- that they "said" was clean. In March PSA went to 1.5 so we did another scan at the end of April- and I have two mets

Kidney Disease mystery solved! ADTKD UMOD genetic disease...
I did a
genetic
test
to discover why my kidneys failed at the age of 49. It turns out I have Autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease (ADTKD). UMOD version. It, for now, is considered a rare disease, but many more people may have this genetic disease and not know it.

Genetic background strongly influences the impact of carrying the Thr92Ala-DIO2 polymorphism in the male mouse
To
test
if the
genetic
background affects the impact of this polymorphism, here we studied the genetically distant C57Bl/6J (B6) and FVB/N (FVB) mice carrying the Ala92-Dio2 allele as compared to control mice carrying the Thr92-Dio2 allele.

A daughter seeking knowledge on CBD and being proactive.
Hi there, my mum was diagnosed in 2020 with CBD. She is the third generation in my family to be diagnosed with a neurological degenerative disease. She is very unsteady on her feet, her speech is slurred, her sentence structure isn’t good and she has lost use of her right arm/hand. If I was to say I

idea?
husband has always reacted poorly/had weird side effects from drugs, to the point I read any new prescriptions. VA did genetic testing for reactions to 20 common drugs and I carry that with me to ask appointments. The loss of testosterone has definitely weakened him and the lupron brain fog is very real

Newly diagnosed with BC. I am terrified but know I must remain strong to get through this long treatment.
I was diagnosed with BC six days ago and I am looking for a safe place to vent, gather information, and find support. I thought I was safe from any cancer given past genetic testing but also because both my mom and maternal grandmother died from C in their early 50's. I passed both their ages of death

Genetic Testing
Hello my husband had heart bypass surgery last year and a heart attack after angiogram. His grandad, dad and sister all have heart conditions. The hospital said last year they would be doing genetic testing and our two children (9&12) would be tested. We still haven’t heard any and when my husband finally

Big Day ?
This is the first day I will have spent the whole day with friends and injected and taken SL B12 instead of skipping it. The results expected is I have a wonderful rest and do not need to recover. I know I will have a wonderful day. I am not yet sure if the reason that I am doing so much better is
