Fosfomycin

She agreed and changed antibiotic to Fosfomycin. Unfortunately the Fosfomycin made me feel dreadful for a couple of days and tbf taking that twice a week would be worse than the flare it was so bad.

For treatment I have used ciprofloxacin, amikacin, nitrofurantoin, levofloxacin (but there was resistance to it), Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, trimethopin, fosfomycin.

Messaged via e consult to GP and she has had change of mind prescribing Fosfomycin one sachet for UTI. However then had another message to say that she had decided to also prescribe Nitrofurantoin capsules, (antibiotics ) for one month.

Do you think I should be fine with taking Fosfomycin or a Penicillin antibiotic? I have an appointment with a private urologist on Thursday. I will never take a quinolone, and obviously with my reactions to Doxy and Trim, I'm left with few options.

Fosfomycin tromethamine will hopefully knock this out and then there was the suggestion of prophylactic antibiotics but I am not sure i like that idea. Is anyone on prophylactic (i spelled it right twice!!) antibiotics together with ADT.

Fosfomycin. So I need to pay closer attention to symptoms (but the problem is that they vary so much day to day and hour to hour i can't figure out a threshold at which i should do something) and maybe get on prophylactic antibiotics. Anyone with chronic UTIs and what was the solution?

Culprit is usually a klebsiella and she goes home with prophylactic antibiotic (she's had them all- nitrofurantoin, coamoxiclav, fosfomycin, trimethoprim and the most recent one is cefalexin. Drs are at a loss as to why this is happening.

Anyone want to weight in on Monuril (Fosfomycin) ??? A single dose sachet you take with a glass of water...

So I'm back to square one with ongoing infections and Fosfomycin being the only oral antibiotic that works. My eGFR was 41 at the last test which has reduced from 51 in a 2 month period.

So my infections have got steadily worse until I've just been prescribed Fosfomycin. I'm waiting for the pharmacy to order it in, but does anyone have experience of this antibiotic? I've also had a recent renal scan which showed my left kidney at 57% eGFR and left 41.
