IBS general: my experience
So after your doctor’s tests, if IBS is your diagnosis, then the first thing to get familiar with is the
FODMAP
diet.

Buscopan daily?
Hi everybody, I was told I have IBS about 8months ago and to try
fodmap
. I've had stool (once) and blood tests (twice) which were all clear.

Nausea and irritable bowel syndrome with pudendal neuralgia
I’ve been on
FODMAP
diet for months now and whilst it seemed to help at first the nausea and irritable bowel returned. I’m wondering if the inflamed pudendal nerve is referring back up the gut! It’s bad enough having PN without this on top. Help!

Has anyone tried Nortriptyline or Amitriptyline?
I have tried so many IBS meds, I am on the low
fodmap
diet, I listen to gut directed hypnotherapy every day, I walk every day, no alcohol, no ‘bad’ foods or drinks. In fact my life is a complete bore. Yet still IBS follows me about everywhere. I live in constant fear there is something very wrong.

Dietitian for acid reflux
I've read a few books - the Acid Watcher and Dropping Acid - and have been eating a low acid diet for the last year, but not sure whether to stick to this diet (it's not helping so much, now) and try GF or low
fodmap
instead.

Worst foods for generating gas?
I've been doing
FODMAP
as far as possible, and have obvious no-nos (pulses, normal bread ....) I'm struggling to find what food left that I (can) eat causes it. I'm trying a lot of GF stuff, even though it's not necessarily low
FODMAP
. I keep a symptom/food diary and can't see a clear correlation.

Undiagnosed 10+years, chronic fatigue, bowel issues, pelvic pain etc
I’ve been sticking to low
fodmap
foods/serving sizes etc though my NHS dietician discharged me as she isn’t trained on the low
fodmap
diet so therefore she literally left me in limbo.

Prolonged bloating - endo or IBS?
I keep getting told the bloating is IBS but I’ve tried the low
FODMAP
diet for 2 months, cutting out dairy, gluten, caffeine, tomatoes, everything, but there are just absolutely no consistencies as to what causes my tummy to flare up, and absolutely nothing has resulted in the bloating going completely

Research: Two microbiota subtypes identified in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with distinct responses to the low FODMAP diet
This shifted towards the healthy profile on the low
FODMAP
diet; and IBSp cases showed an enhanced clinical responsiveness to the dietary therapy. The effectiveness of
FODMAP
reduction in IBSp may result from the alterations in gut microbiota and metabolites produced.

Update + Advice please
I have followed a very strict
fodmap
diet over the last few weeks but I have experienced no relief! Mebeverine, buscapan and peppermint capsules are of no relief either. I have been resorting to painkillers (codeine!).

IBS-C & Sibo
I’m following the Low
FODMAP
diet which is recommended for Sibo with a few tweaks. I thought the IBS -C was bad but Sibo on top of it is even worse ☹️ Has anyone else had this problem after taking antibiotics, that they haven’t worked and got rid of the Sibo ? Thanks in advance for any help 🙏

Really struggling with no answers @ long term bloating :(
Have been following a strict low
fodmap
diet and that has reduced the bloating a bit, but it’s still nowhere near back to normal. GP said it sounds like endometriosis, have been referred to gastro and gaeno but waiting lists are insanely long at the moment.

Fodmap diet
Does anyone else follow the
Fodmap
diet? I feel I have cut so many healthy foods out and only managed to introduce a few back into my diet. I am over 60 and just feel so rubbish all the time

Struggling with stomach pain and anxiety
For the past 2/3 weeks I’ve been sticking to a
FODMAP
diet in the hope of relieving my IBS symptoms, but it doesn’t appear to be working.

IBS/WEIGHT LOSS
I am looking for a dietitian to be able to set up a weight loss diet plan to take into consideration the
FODMAP
diet and the foods that I like. Basically I want a tailored made weight loss diet plan.

People of HU - 'A day in a life' living with IBS
In fact, I introduced all foods mentioned here in this way, since without treatment, many foods triggered pain, even low
FODMAP
ones. Every other weekday I go for a 30-minute run.
