First hospital admission
Hi everyone, I've had asthma since I was 7 and over the last 10 months this has been quite problematic, my GP and asthma nurse are fantastic, I must state that my sats are always good, throughout, my asthma has been unresponsive to treatment but have changed to symbicort 200, plus taking usual triple

Peak flow and technique in children
Just wondering for those with older children at what rough age your child was able to get an accurate recording of their peak flow? My eldest asthmatic has his asthma review in the new year and at last years attempt he just couldn't get it. He is now 5, almost 6.

Very confused...
Hi :) So I have had asthma problems for about a month now - wheezing, coughing, breathless etc. I have had to call an ambulance 4 times this month, three of those have been this week, and I swear they're getting fed up of me in A&E! The first two times the ambulance came I was told my chest was wheezy

Symbicort 200/6 SMART therapy
Hi, have met brilliant respiratory specialist nurse today, and she mentioned that she loves this medication, and it might work well for me. I am to continue for now with seretide 250 and singulair, but I was wondering who has had experience of this therapy - I must admit it sounds good, I'm the sort

short of breath?
Hello, I don't post here that often but was wondering if anyone has been having similar symptoms and what were they told by a doctor about it? I have severe asthma and when I have a flare up, I normally start coughing, wheezing, being short of breath, and obviously that mainly happens during nights

I developed pre eclampsia at 37 weeks with my son he was delivered via a emergency cecarian at just 39 weeks. My recovery took months I was very ill so because I was so ill plus me and my husband were young infact we were both 18 we decided to wait 4 years for another. I'm now 22 and 6weeks pregnant

Not well at the moment: miserable, very weak and on Pred etc
Hello Everyone, I am unwell at the moment with a virus that sent my peak flow into a nosedive. I suddenly found that I was extremely weak - almost couldn't walk - so saw the gp. She said there isn't a chest infection, so that's good, but she gave me Predisnolone tabs and I'm still on them. Seventh day

Wow I feel good...Laura said that I would!
Feeling so good this morning just had to share. Did stepping stones first thing - dark and freezing cold at 6am but was highly motivated by all comments here. Did the first two sections well, struggled with the 160 bit - but you know what I felt so good running for the whole session much faster than

Peak Flow
As a long time asthmatic (now diagnosed as COPD) I know the peak flow of old,but have never had a lot of faith in what it tells me. The only time I used it in the past was when I felt dangerously breathless and if it was less than 100 (sometimes 50) I got to the hospital. This year, on my honeymoon

Didn't think I'd be able to run for 5 minutes but it would appear that I can!
I took advantage of a brief respite in the deluge and headed out for the first run of week 4. The route I usually use is impassable. The footpath has become a fast flowing stream. I never run in my own village, it's too hilly, there are no pavements, and people know me! There was not a lot of choice

confidence, money and nebs
Since starting university 6 weeks ago i have had 2 overnight hospital stays, 1 week long visit and another trip to A&E where they sent me home after a few nebulisers. I'm really shaken and have really lost my confidence in doing anything. I've been out of hospital 3 days, but im still definately not

A period of readjustment (rambling moan alert)
Hi, I've just joined this forum because I'm going through a period of readjustment in my attitude towards my asthma, so I apologise if this is a bit of a waffle. I've had asthma since a young child, so can't remember ever not having daily inhalers etc. I would generally say my asthma was moderate,

Doc visit after attack?
I feel like a bit of a plonker asking this, but maybe I just need reassuring? Yesterday evening I had an asthma attack, not major - managed to get it under control with Salbutamol after four or five whacks. No big deal, although absolutely no clue what triggered it. Was just getting ready for bed. Then
