Newbie struggling
Hi, I'm new and, as the title suggests, struggling. I first remember experiencing breathlessness as a late teen and it has gradually gotten worse over the years. I would get a right chest and struggle to get deep breaths but no coughing or wheezing. I was first diadiagnosed 3 years ago after a particularly

Hi there, haven't been on here for some time so hi all again! So I've been essentially symptom free for some time now and have stepped down medication to just 1 puff a day of seretide 50. I've been on this for a few months now and still had no trouble which is great. The past few days however I've

Is it just me? Asthma and anxiety
It may be that my GP and a&e are fed up with me or that (as I suspect) one particular cons has had a negative impact on my treatment but I am fed up with not being taken seriously for my now almost official 'difficult asthma.' I've had a fairly good run recently asthma wise (after last year's admissions

About the Microlife digital peak flow
I just bought a manual digital peak flow from Microlife to measure my fev1 for copd. I tried it and it shows values higher than the doctor's office. I wonder if someone has experience with it and can you please tell me if they accurate compare with other more professional spirometers. Am I wasting my

I am 31, 5'7, and 75kg. I have pluretic type pain (upper right abdo), as well as chest pain in centre of chest. when i lie down I feel short of breath so need to sleep sitting up! breathing feels like an effort, its like I cant get enough air in my lungs. I am being investigated for an autoimmiune

Pharmacy followup phone call & Is it still considered 'mild' asthma?
I have just been prescribed Flutiform 125, 2 puffs twice a day as my asthma wasn't sufficiently controlled on the preventer alone (previously 400mcg-800mcg per day of Qvar for the last 3 months or so). We discussed the results of my reversibility testing previously done and also my peak flow readings

Crackling and squeaking noises when breathing out, while laid down
Hi I wonder if somebody could help me with this. A few months ago when I went to bed as I was breathing out my throat seemed to be making a sound like 'popping candy', then soon after high pitched squeaking. A couple of weeks later I went to the doctors thinking I had a chest infection and was told

At a loss with symptoms
I've had asthma for 28 years and for the first time I'm actually at a loss as to what the heck is going on with my symptoms. Initially this started off with a crackly cough and that crackly wheezy feeling in the chest like when you feel you have a chest infection. So given that it was at an earlys

Good peak flow but having worsening symptoms?
Hi there, Apologies if this sounds like a dumb question but is it possible to have a good peak flow reading but still be feeling tight chested and a little wheezy? I've felt my symptoms get worse over the last few days and I can't make up my mind if it is due to the weather changes we've had recently

Asthma or not?
Hi there. I have just received the letter from my last hospital appointment stating 'we have never established whether or not you have asthma'. My list of diagnoses States: Lupus, restrictive lung disease, weak respiratory muscles, central sleep apnea and narrowing of the smaller airways, possible

Rehabilitation tips?
Hi, I'm currently on yet another dose of antibiotics and prednsiolone having started with infection after infection since October last year. It all came to a head on 2nd March when I was blue lighted to my local ED with an asthma attack. No one seemed to take me seriously that I was short of breath

Peak flow and playing woodwind instruments
Just wondered if anybody else had come across this one. I'm only 5'3'', but have a best ever PEFR of 660, which is much higher than it should be. The only reason anybody can come up with is that I've played clarinet and recorder since I was a child (now 39). The down side of this is that a PEFR which

Peak flow reading.
Morning everyone, just a quickie. My Peak flow reading is always 370 morning noon and night, before and after exercise. I'm stage 1 bullous emphysema with fev1 81% not on any medication. Last Ct scan was back in 2012, I take it if my copd progress then my Peak flow will decline? Is 370 good?

Free Prescriptions for Asthmatics?
Am I the only one who is uncertain as to why asthma isn't an exclusion criterion for prescription charge payment? I guess I shouldn't be complaining just yet as I still fit neatly in the middle of the bracket that says, '16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education', so I don't pay anyway. But when I get

Somewhat belated introduction!
I probably should have introduced myself before posting about the woes of my asthma and commenting…sorry :) I am 17yo, biologically female but identify as male. Which kind of sucks but hey, that's life. I have 'hayfever', eczema and asthma (you would never have known that, would you?), and I suffer
