COPD beginner
I am 78 and after smoking for over 50 years and stopping 11 years ago have just been told I have COPD. My peak flow is 250 and I don't take any medication. I have a number of questions I would like to ask members of the forum: 1. I see mentions of percentages such as 80%, 90% - to what do these relate

help- a little advice/knowledge? copd/asthma/anything?
After Christmas I went to doctors with wheezing chest ,tighteness, cough, unable to exercise. I'm 29 and these symptoms have started after I stopped smoking a year ago- but increasingly got worse. My recommended peak flow should be 440 but was 350 so my GP give me a reliever inhaler-which barely made

Hi I'm trying to hang on till drs opens to avoid going back to a and e, following last night's visit. My chest X ray was clear which supervised me because it feels I have fluid on the lungs. I'm constantly coughing after several days of vomiting up white foam and thick yellow mucus. Now mostly dry

Natural does not mean safer. Red Yeast Rice, sold as Statin alternative, has similar risks!
...the common perception that natural is safer didn't pan out in the study of the Italian Surveillance System of Natural Health Products, similar to the findings of a prior French government analysis of adverse event reports it received on red yeast rice. : Red yeast rice supplements

Diagnosis and peak flow numbers, my experiences
Hi, bit of a long ramble this but it might help people just being diagnosed and wondering about peak flow numbers. If it helps there are some charts you can find online. I found this one (see second page): http://www.rcht.nhs.uk/DocumentsLibrary/RoyalCornwallHospitalsTrust/Websites/Internet/OurServices

What to expect?
Hi all, new to the site and need some advice. I had asthma as a child, mainly brought on by hayfever, but grew out of it...until now at the age of 41. I had a bad chest infection last year, after which i was diagnosed with asthma. Ventolin on its own didn't help. Tried brown and green inhalers to no

Hello everyone. After a pretty rough weekend I found myself at the doctors yesterday morning with talk of adult onset asthma, being hooked up to a nebuliser and being told off for not calling NHS24 through the night. I left with a course of Prednisolome, a blue inhaler, peak flow meter and an appointment

Peak flow good breathing bad sometimes inhalers make it worse aswell especially when the weather changes
Hi if anyone has any ideas it could be life changing for me I can be anywhere but when the weather changes I go funny quickly like a human barometer light headed and asthma starts. Doctors say anxiety but how can that be when I relaxed and no problem also peak flow is fine sometimes and even then

Hiya, Having had a cough for months and struggling with breathlessness whilst l'm working, my doctor is now assessing me for asthma. I'm 10 days into a 'trial of treatment' and my cough has almost disappeared, the breathlessness is about a million times better and my peak flow has increased from around

Oximeter?
Hi. Im a mum of a 3 yr old little boy who has acute asthma. We are just home from hospital admission. He goes downhill v quickly. Does anyone use an oximeter at home with themselves or little ones? He's too young for a peak flow tester. If so, which ones are good? Many thanks xx
