it feels like I'll never get better
Hi! I've had constant air hunger every day since June. During my early teens, I was diagnosed with asthma caused by cats. I got prescribed Ventolin which I used when in contact with cats, it helped. I never had any other issues with asthma. As I was young, the allergy tests only confirmed me being

Steroids not working?
I’ve just had a 5 day rescue course of prednisolone due to an asthma flare. However, my peak flow is still only about 70% and I have an itchy, scratchy throat and cough. I don’t actually have a cold so I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve never had a course of steroids before where it hasn’t made me completely

Despair at not being helped
Long story. Diagnosed mild bronchiectasis 2010. Regular OP follow up till 2017 in local hospital and regional immunology clinic till 2021. Also have IgA deficiency and auto immune arthritis. Exacerbation since June 2023 and still coughing loads sputum every day. Sputum tests have shown lots of infection

Incorrect Hospital Records
Hi, I’ve been having some problems with the respiratory team and requested a copy of my hospital records, which I’ve received. After going through them, there’s lots of information missing and details which are incorrect. I’m a severe asthmatic, and the consultant has now noted “no definitive diagnosis

Any advice?
Hi all, 👋 I was wondering whether some of you lovely people might be able to give me some advice. Apologies in advance for this super long message! 😅 Back in 2017 I had two really bad exacerbations with my asthma, involving lots of pred and antibiotics, which led to me moving from fostair to seretide

getting a diagnosis
my son had persistent dry cough as a child, no inhalers worked but he never saw a specialist. A course of oral steroids sorted him out for a good while. He is now 23 and a professional singer, classically trained but suffers with reflux, persistent cough, and gets every virus on his chest. Recently

How would a rational person deal with this? What would be their thought process?
This has been going on a while now maybe I am too dumb to rationally reduce my anxiety. Basically I have had the condition Chronic rhinosinitis with polyps since I was 23. Twelve years later I have been under ent had ct scans which have shown some sinus thickening, they said it didn’t look too bad

High Heart Hormones
Can anyone fill me in on what these actually mean? I have a history of AF/Tachy. I am back in AF now and have been since beg March. Still awaiting to speak with my cardiologist. As an asthmatic, I got my peak flow checked and my GP ran BNP test. I have high heart hormones but tbh .. I have no idea

Oxygen levels/peak flow
Hi everyone I had a flare up of asthma today, no idea what's caused it. Felt quite wheezy and tight-chested earlier. Managed to get an emergency appointment with a nurse I'd never seen before who didn't seem that bothered. Sure enough, my peak flow is normal (560) and my oxygen was 98%. No wheeziness

Asthma without infection
Brief history. Moved north to West Yorkshire in 1974 (aged 29). Started with beathing difficulties. Had allergy tests and a course of desensitisation injections, which worked, but whenever I caught a cold, it morphed into a sore throat and chest infection leading to gasping for breath. Major attack

GP's and medication
I'm beginning to think GP's have been instructed to stop offering treatment for various conditions! Recently I have been to my arthritis is impacting on things I can do, "sorry nothing for it , take paracetamol or ibuprofen" but you know I can't take ibuprofen! Then I go saying my peak flow is down

New to the forum Peak Flow questions
Hi and thank you for allowing me to join your forum. Q: So I've done a peak flow diary over 22 days before I speak to GP tomorrow. My average readings are between 250 and 290. Is this poor? I have a complex health history, many battles with health pros, lots of investigations and some firm diagnoses

Really positive respiratory review
I know I've moaned a lot on here about the difficulties I've had in getting the right care since diagnosis, but I had an annual respiratory review this week and it was really good - so thorough, and the nurse really listened to what I was saying and was working with me to keep the asthma well managed

Constant green phlegm since March 2023
Hello. I was diagnosed with asthma in 2019 after a nasty chest infection where the GP said my chest was very wheezy and suggested that she thought I had asthma. It was confirmed over the next 2 months by spirometry and peak flow with the asthma nurse. I was given Fostair 200/6 and used it until February

New adult onset asthma
Hi all, I'm a man in my early 40s of normal weight and never smoked. I've just come out of hospital with what is assumed to be a severe asthma attack. I spent 10 days in respiratory ward. My o2 got down to 89% and my peak flow down below 200. It took me a long time to turn round but now back at home

Asthma Drs do they know.
Hi There are times when I can’t breath, but when I check my Sats they are between 90 and 95. But I still struggle, the hospital Dr says it can’t be bad as I am between 90 and 95. I am usually 85 up my peak flow is 250 best and 150 in the morning. I don’t know why I struggle at that No but it’s scary

How could AI help in asthma care?
Hi all! I have a question for you: as an asthma patient, how do you think AI could potentially help meet needs you have that aren't currently being met? For example, I have been reflecting on how doctors could potentially use AI to more accurately diagnose, treat, and educate patients. For me personally

respiratory medicine
I have an appointment at the hospital for respiratory medicine consultation. They have requested that I bring- peak flow diary, all medication and my asthma management plan. I have never had a peak flow diary or asthma management plan, should I have been given these by my doctor?
