Shock diagnosis and 4 week wait for follow up at rapid-access Heart Failure clinic. Is my anxiety justified?
My AF is controlled after 2 ablations with
Flecainide
and Bisoprolol. Bradycardia controlled with PM. Later the pacemaker clinic said I may just need another lead.

Choosing a hospital for Ablation
Hi I have had PAF for about 10 years which was controlled with a
flecainide
PIP when needed, sadly since Covid and that awful cough doing the rounds last year my episodes slowly increased to every other day, access to my consultants team in Exeter is excellent through the hospital Arrythmia nurses

PAF - move to PiP only
Currently, along with my daily
flecainide
, I also have the option of 'emergency PiP' too - extra does of flecanide plus beta blocker but thankfully I have never had to use this. On my next review in Sept, the removal of the
flecainide
and anti-platelet is up for discussion and a move to PiP only.

Coming Off Flecainide.
Flecainide
and Apixaban. So helpful when you're struggling. Since coming off the
Flecainide
last Monday I have checked my Kardia frequently. It always reports NSR. My EP and GP insisted it was ok to come off
Flecainide
cold turkey.

Flecainide, Diltiazem and Shortness of Breath
Anyone get shortness of breath (SOB) from
Flecainide
and/or Diltiazem -- not right away, but months later? For the first six months on both drugs, I had no SOB. For the second six months I had SOB. Now that I stopped both drugs, it seems better.

12 month follow up
Even then the episodes only last a day or so and resolve with 10mg Bisoprolol and up to 400mg
flecainide
for rapid rate control...... and not needing one of the 22 jump starts with the defibrillator I've had over the years.

I’m really struggling with food induced AF every time I eat anything I seem to flip into AF lasting between 4/20hrs rate is never high .My Arrythmia specialist nurse was very supportive but no real answers other than ordering an echo to check my ventricular function before commencing

PIP for AFIB
My Doctor has prescribed PIP metoprolol 100mg followed 20 minutes later by 100 mg of
flecainide
and if not reverted in 60 minutes another 100mg of
flecainide
. I typically have an episode every four months or so and have been able to revert with only the single dose of each.

Shout out to all Flecainide Accord brand users
This month my GP surgery pharmacy again couldn't supply the Accord brand
Flecainide
I have used for 10 years and loathe to change as it has been pointed out here that different brands can have different 'fillers' that can cause issues/AF.

My AF Journey and Statins ?
Eventually GP agreed to try me on
flecainide
50mg twice daily - this did absolutely nothing for my af, even taking an additional 100mg tablet when it was bad had no effect. I also believe the
flecainide
increased the frequency of my af.

Ablation vs med management?
We have tried Beta Blockers (which do not work as mine is vagally mediated), Diltiazem,
Flecainide
, and now Norpace. The doctor is not opposed to another ablation but wants to try at least a few more meds.

Update - Bisoprolol to Diltiazem
I had been on 1.25 mg Bisoprolol for about 5 months but hated the awful side effects (tiredness and shortness of breath) and found I was in AF most days, even tried
Flecainide
twice daily but that did nothing for me.

7 weeks post ablation and bang! Afib back after perfect day
Yesterday, on the 7th week anniversary of my ablation, my afib was under control with
Flecainide
as I prepared for a high stakes work presentation. The presentation went brilliantly and afterwards I did some rugby passing practice with my 14 year to help him -not me !!

Ablation Success
These clustered on occasions and I feared the worse but with some
flecainide
and breathing exercises these passed. I captured these episodes on Kardia and shared them with Dr Paisey. Again he assured me this was normal as the heart scarring heals.

Taking Flecainide with Bisoprolol
When I was first diagnosed with AF a few years ago I was told to use the "pill in the pocket" approach to terminate an episode by using bisoprolol and
flecainide
- the
flecainide
20 minutes after the bisoprolol.

Returning episodes use of Flecainide
I have a supply of the
Flecainide
PIP that I was prescribed four years ago. I have been using my old stock as PIP usually one dose of two does the trick.

Update on post ablation - day 6
The nurse spoke to the consultant and then rang me back again to tell me to restart the daily Diltiazem but if possible, avoid the
Flecainide
PIP.

Ramdom flips from bradycardia to tachycardia.
This lead to the cardiologists to increase my
Flecainide
to 100mg twice daily. So now I've been on
Flecainide
100mg for three months and things have changed. Now I don't get AF as I previously experienced it.
