Coming Off Statins - Update June 28, 2018
If my
Fibrinogen
and homocysteine levels remain optimal with every other day, then I will reduce to one every third day based on this research: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11190906

Inflammation - Albumin and Fibrinogen
Fibrinogen
is the precursor of fibrin, which forms blood clots.
Fibrinogen
itself is inactive until it meets thrombin. Higher levels don't necessarily mean that there will be clotting activity, but clotting risk is elevated in cancer. I would not care to have excessive

Role of the Coagulation System in PCa.
It dissolves fibrin & reduces
fibrinogen
levels. It potentially eliminates micro-clots, which are probably essential for metastasis. I have written a number of posts on the subject. D-dimer can be monitored to ascertain clot status. Elevated levels may indicate active clots.

High fibrinogen in pregnancy
My last clotting screen was done on the 27/6 the only thing that came back out of range was:
Fibrinogen
5.4 (normal range 2.8-4.7) Is this anything to be concerned about? No one seems to be able to tell me either way. Thanks in advance.

Take Control of Your Heart Health
Other useful tests include
Fibrinogen
(blood clotting protein) and Homocysteine (amino acid that can damage arterial walls). Tests may cost some money, but what is more important than your health and your life?

Inflammation. [3] SedRate, Fibrinogen, IL-6, TNFalpha.
When an inflammatory process is present, the high proportion of
fibrinogen
in the blood causes red blood cells to stick to each other. The red cells form stacks called 'rouleaux,' which settle faster, due to their increased density." [2]

"Inflammation. [4] How to Change the Numbers"

Fibrinogen
, IL-6, TNFalpha" The literature tends to treat subclinical inflammation as an artifact of serious disease.

Coagulation factors in PCa
Renal cancer showed increased levels of D-dimers, partial thromboplastin time and
fibrinogen
. D-dimers and
fibrinogen
were increased in prostate cancer; whereas in bladder cancer, only
fibrinogen
was elevated.

Fibrinogen
elevation is perhaps not the only change to coagulation factors, since
fibrinogen
itself is fairly innocuous. Anyway, my feeling is that is is prudent to target (a) inflammation & (b) fibrin.

Platelets & Metastasis
Fibrinogen
connects the platelets. iii) the enzyme thrombin converts
fibrinogen
to fibrin. Fibrin not only provides the glue for the platelet plug, but also forms the body of the clot that builds around the plug.
