High fibrinogen in pregnancy

Hello all,

Hoping someone can shed some light as consultant didn't mention anything and gp doesn't have a clue.

I'm currently 38 weeks 4 days pregnant. Due for induction 23/7. My last clotting screen was done on the 27/6 the only thing that came back out of range was:

Fibrinogen 5.4 (normal range 2.8-4.7)

Is this anything to be concerned about? No one seems to be able to tell me either way.

Thanks in advance.

If you have a read under what does the test mean section - it says these can be elevated in pregnancy as a normal variant. I think you/your doctor obviously needs to take the whole picture into context and see why these were checked in the first place, as they are not routinely checked.

Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply, I was sure my dr would know the answer but rather shocked he didn't. I have a clotting issue which is why it concerned me. This puts my mind at rest somewhat, but just want to have my baby now - so sick of being pregnant!
