To continue or not....that is the question
I started treatment in July 2021 after 18 months on W&W. Initially I was treated with Obinutuzumab but I had a severe reaction to the first 20mg and ended up in the A&E resuscitation ward. I was then swopped to Rituximab and Venetoclax, which was explained as normally being a second line treatment which

HSV-infections
The most common drugs for treating HSV-infections are antivirals, such as acyclovir, valacyclovir and
famciclovir
. But what are the options if these common treatments do not help during a relapse? A clinical trial for a new drug called PRITELIVIR is now entering Phase 3.

Not that serious in the scheme of things!
I wonder if the inflamed looking rash at the corners of my mouth and at the side of my nose are PMR or pred related by any chance? I have had it for about the same period as my PMR diagnosis which is 2 years. Various GPS have not made such connections. Rosacea was ruled out. They prescribed Daktatort

Shingles
Hi everyone, I had terrible pain in my left hip and down the thigh to just above knee last week and was worried in case it was to do with my hip replacement. However on Sunday I noticed a crop of lumpy red spots on my hip which were itchy. Called the surgery Monday morning and got a call back from GP

Is it possible that the rash around the corners of my mouth and nose is connected to PMR? I’ve had it for about 2 years - approximately the same period as PMR, but the various GPs I’ve complained to have not made the association. Rosacea was ruled out. But they have prescribed Daktacort ( for possible

A Reminder of the Symptoms of Shingles including the pre Rash phase.
Suspected shingles is ALWAYS a medical emergency for us CLLers and this has a very good summary of the pre rash phase. It's very important to take full dose acyclovir as soon as it is suspected, don't wait until you have the rash. Please read and familiarise yourself with the information, it could

What’s going on here and what should I be asking my endo for now?
I thought till a few months ago I was going to be one of the lucky folks here who crack the code on thyroid treatment and get their lives back. For a while it certainly felt that way. However, things have shifted in a big way and I’d once again love some advice from the forum. In October, when I felt

WBC scores 4 months on Imbruvica
I have been on Imbruvica since late December 2020. My WBC count was 357K. one 480 mg tab daily along with 2X daily acyclovir. My score has decreased each month and yesterday was 68K...My doctor expects I will be back to normal count within a couple more months. I thank God, it is working for me

My 21 year old brother has HSE. Mom isn't coping, but I think he seems to be progressing well? Advice/support?
My little brother has had an unknown autoimmune disease since Sept 2017. Something with his pituitary gland, although with a very unhelpful GP we haven't been able to get very far. Overall he'd been doing well. On the weekend before the 15th of March he started to get a fever and low appetite, and on

Waning PMR now shingles. New poster.
Now on low dose prednisolone (1mg) after 2 1/2 years feeling very pleased with myself. Had the Covid jab 3 weeks ago, then a blistery rash for 2 weeks and diagnosed (by photos) today as having shingles! Put on 800 mg aciclovir X 5 per day. Not so pleased now. Is shingles common within the PMR club members

Shingles - part 3
After much googling, I can see that this is indeed shingles even though I only have 5 spots. The GP was actually quite panicky, he told me to come down immediately and pick up Aciclovir, he said that 5 spots is probably just the start and it must be nipped in the bud and worse still I am to stop taking

Shingles!
Last week I felt the first tingling feeling of Shingles, but it disappeared. I happened to have an appointment with my consultant and she decided to prescribe a prophylactic dose of Aciclovir, as I'm on Ruxolitinib, therefore immune suppressed. A couple of days later actual Shingles developed and I
