Overcoming ecmo and everything else
Les has survived
Ecmo
, a rare bone marrow infection, peritonitis and abdominal surgery which the doctors did not expect him to survive, multi organ failure, possible brain damage from lack of oxygen, four weeks in an induced coma . Over and over again he has fought like a lion to survive.

Ecmo and icu
He survived
ecmo
against all odds, his BP has stabilised. I thought we were winning baby steps and now this grenade is thrown at us. There is a danger of brain damage and I don't know where to turn.

Alagille Syndrome/TOF with Pulmonary Atresia
He’s still on
ECMO
and now on dialysis. Despite all that I’m trying to stay positive that my baby will come out of this madness. I need some motivations. Please share your successful stories. Thank you!

The funny side of ICU and a long-term hospital stay.
So, although my trauma was terrible and savage (sepsis, multi organ faliure, pneumonia, ARDS,
ECMO
) I just want to take the time to talk about the lighter more humorous side of being in hospital, and some of the truly wonderful memories I have from being there.

Nobody explains
I had a team sent from another hospital to potentially put me on something called
ecmo
treatment . ( it’s sounds better than it is ) . I was the sickest person in the surrounding six hospitals. When anybody tells me this or anything about it , they are talking about someone else , not me!

Damaged lungs after ARDS
She spent 53 days on
ECMO
to buy her time to allow her lungs to heal. They’ve said that the lungs are scarred and they don’t know how well they will function.

Head twitchings and very unresponsive
Since he had heart failure he had to be put on the
ECMO
machine and an induced coma for 2 weeks. We praise God because he made it through it all.

Happy 2 year lungaversary to me!!!!
It's not been easy I tell yer, 3 months after transplant I had to have my other lung removed due to aspergillus but that went completely wrong and I went into cardiac arrest four times and ended up in a coma on
ecmo
for three months with a trachy. Doctors said I wouldn't make it thru the night.

Home Oxygen service, post Oesophagectomy for breathelessness
This use to happen mostly after meals but I have noticed the shortness of breathe and fatigue in between meals too. 6 months post Oesophagectomy, had Respiratory failure in ITU with pleuritic effusion on discharge,
ECMO
used.

It's not over yet ...
The first 7 days I did
ECMO
, for wich they put me in a medically induced coma. I got out of it without being able to move (intensive care muscle weakness). Anyway, it took me another week in ICU and two more weeks in hospital until I was discharged.

Had urgent CT again on sunday and confirmed severe pneumonia and complete respiratory failure. that's where I heard the word
ECMO
first time in life. My husband was put on
ECMO
on the 12th February. But I heard the worst in my life.
