Could I have anemia
I was actually quite floored vitamins could make this much of a difference for me as I assumed my symptoms were all just psychological or something (I do have
dysthymia
and anxiety issues). Also, my Mother has told me my Grandfather had RBC issues, but doesn't know the specifics.

What a waste!
After a call to the mental health crisis team at a particularly bad time he was referred to secondary mental health services and is currently having psychotherapy with a trainee and he had a very short mental health assessment with a trainee GP who diagnosed

How to get help for dysthymia in the UK, when the GP told me the only treatment is avoiding the difficulties?
I suspect that it is mild chronic depression (
dysthymia
), but it could be CFS or many others. Blood and other tests reveal nothing wrong, but I do have a slow heart rate (~50) and an overactive parasympathetic nervous system.

Panic attack or strangulation feeling?
I don't smoke, never have but have
dysthymia
so usually put it down to a stress attack. Could this be my thyroid? I've also been craving milk a lot lately. I have low vitamin D levels so have to take Vit D everyday too.

Does anyone have dysthymia? If so, can you please let me know what your symptoms are and how it affects your daily life and relationships?

Sweating, shakiness alongside PMR problems - steroids or other cause.
I'm 67 and have a long history of
dysthymia
/ chronic depression with exacerbations, and also moderate essential tremor affecting my hands and head. I've had two very successful hip replacements and have arthritis in my spine. Four years ago I had PMR which settled on steroids.

Do other people find that steroids worsen their depression?
I have a long history of
dysthymia
and recurrent major depression. When I was on steroids previously my depression worsened, and with this PMR recurrence and steroids I'm having a bad setback.

Ex is coming back for a few days...I need to escape!
It was a combination of things really - clash of personalities, my anxiety, depression & chronic mood swings (
dysthymia
) didn't help.

Hi, I'm new here!
That was 11 years ago and have been on a roller coaster of
dysthymia
to dreadfully down for most of the time since. ECT wiped 2 years off my memory which never returned and constant diazepam...now 30mg pd keeps my memory at bay.

Thought I was OK - now crashing
I have long-term
dysthymia
, interspersed with major depression. At New Year, I felt I had real insights into why my depression took the form it did - intense suicidal thoughts, and felt as if I had been given keys which would do away with it for ever.

Overworking...
Although this looks like bipolarity from the outside, the difference is that moods don't change from being ecstatic to being depressed, but rather stay at various levels of anxiety and
dysthymia
throughout the different stages.

How to differentiate 'normal bad days' from slipping back?
I've experienced depression or
dysthymia
for most of my life. Recently I've had some real breakthroughs.

Struggling at the moment..
As I've written in my other posts after many years of struggling with negative emotions and depression I was recently referred to the Mental Health Team and was seen by a psychiatrist who diagnosed
dysthymia
, AI term I had never heard of but made sense when I did some research.

Long-term depression - possible Asperger's
I'm now 66 and have had
dysthymia
and recurrent depression since my late teens. I've had most antidepressants at some time, and am doing fairly well on venlafaxine, which I hope to reduce soon. I've always had great difficulty in social relationships and have always been single and celibate.
