Post transplant

Dad is 17 days post op And we managed to get to see him today, just outside ward we sat distanced from him but glad to see him, moving forward slowly but in the right direction, a few things I’m wondering if anyone has any advice -

He’s still got catheter in they did take it out but he went into retention so needed it to be put back in any advice?

He’s still requiring dialysis and also 2 units of blood last night they are talking about referring him to our local hospital for dialysis, did anybody come home and need to go for further dialysis? He had no renal problems befire transplant

He looks quite yellow skin and white of eyes they have said liver bloods are going in the right direction but was a bit shocked how yellow he still is

Hi think most of us that have had a transplant also have kidney problems after op. I am 18 months post transplant and my kidneys aren't as they shud be but consultants are not worried at the moment . I am drinking alot of water as instructed and they are keeping an eye on it . It's still early days for ur dad it takes time 4 things to settle down after such a big op. He's in the best place. Can you get to speak to his consultant? They should be able to give you the specific information that you require.

I can’t suggest anything as my experience was different. I am just delighted for you and your Dad that you got to see him. It can and will only get better!
