in a nutshell in the space of 2 years I found out some devastating news from my husband which explained his drinking then found out the drinking was worse than I thought then was told he had decompansated alcohol liver disease and now on the transplant list after all this I had a melt down 8 weeks ago

Confused
hsd a fibroscsn Sept 2021 was told at the time that this was serious and it was chirosis and that I would need a ultrasound. That was a year ago and recently had my ultra sound when radiologist said liver looks OK had bloods in between all well within normal range Expected to have an appointment

Muscle wasting and other symptoms but normal test results
Hello everyone, I was an alcoholic for over ten years until April 2021 when quit because I was getting abdominal pain and leg jerks at night. After quitting for a few months they went away but then I relapsed five months ago. Since then I have had muscle wasting in my legs, testicular atrophy, weight

The end of the road for my brother
last week I sat holding my 57 year old brother’s hand whilst he passed away from a complication due to alcoholic liver disease. I cared for him for 3 years and it was very hard. Just wanted to say thanks as this site has been useful when I was doing research re transplants.

Spider nevi central spot?
Hi, As per previous posts I'm anxious about my liver, with good cause as a previous heavy drinker (50 units a week , much reduced last few years). A couple of years ago I had a liver MRI -fine. So my question - I've noticed some red veins at bottom of nose. Are these always spider nevi? I can't see

Cirrhosis/Sprionolactone/testosterone
I know. Bit of an odd one!!! Hi all! I’d just be interested to know if anyone has had any (male) hormone issues surrounding cirrhosis and/or the use of Spironolactone. Or perhaps it’s just me?! About a month before diagnosis, (I couldn’t see them because of my swollen belly), It felt like my testicles

Helpful article for those who love someone who is dying of alcoholic liver disease
Hello, everyone — This article might be helpful for anyone who is watching a loved one die from alcohol addiction disease, and it’s subsequent effect on the liver. It’s stunningly honest and frank, and faces head-on some issues that are difficult to talk about. I hope it might give support and a feeling

Fatty Liver - So worried
I gave up drinking about 3 years ago with some 'blips' along the way where I tried moderation which I absolutely know now does not work. However, the dragging sensation I used to get in my liver area when I used to take a drink has persisted into sobriety. I approached the doctor to look into this in

Can Methylprednisolone affect Ascites?
I am currently on 100mg spironolactone and 40mg furosemide daily to help my Ascites. Recently I hurt my back running and was prescribed a 4mg/day methylprednisolone dose pack to help with the injury. I began taking the steroid last Tuesday evening, and by Wednesday afternoon to my pleasure noticed

Hallo Everyone, and Thank you again to Fibro2021, I have read your very numerous and various responses to people, and admire your clarity and that you never patronize! I begin to see how hypertensive portal gastropathy, is somewhat serious, perhaps more serious than that which is occuring in my colon

Cirrhosis LFTs came back as normal but still worried
I spoke with my consultant today as I'd not had my blood results from last month. He told me my Liver function tests showed now as normal but said I'm probably still border line decompensated as LFTs don't matter. I asked him about hypertension as I have normal portal vein flow and normal flow through

Can drinking 10 liters of water a day reverse cirrhosis?
If water is flushing out toxins, a toxin-free state can give the liver time to repair itself. I could not find any studies belonging to cirrhosis. Only those who drank a lot of water showed less fatty liver disease. Do you know a scientist who has tried this?

Once a month and really, once a month
Hello I have been diagnosed with Fibrosis Stage 3 but they are treaing me as though I have early Cirrohsis. I've been told to abstain alcohol forever. Now if I truly have the willpower to treat myself on one day a month to a few drinks and it is only one day a month, would it really do any harm ? I guess
