Gemcitabine
Can anyone tell me how difficult Gemcitabine is to cope with please? I may be offered a place on a trial that includes Gemcitabine & a trial drug, & I need to decide whether to go for it or not if they say I'm well enough for it. My cancer doesn't respond well to chemo, & at the moment I'm feeling

3 Holidays on NHS this year
Just over a week ago I came home from my 3rd stay in my local hospital this year. Each time I was short of breath & told I had a chest infection. When I was discharged the 2nd time I was only home one day, & was back next day, in ITU & on a ventilator for 2 - 3 days, in hospital for 2 weeks altogether

Question about Gemzar aka Gemcitabine Hcl
Curious and looking for those who have experience with Gemzar. I have been on Abraxane for four months, but my liver numbers and tumor markers have taken a rather abrupt u-turn in the last month, so tomorrow we switch to Gemzar. I would be so grateful for any shared wisdom as well as prayers. I also

Disease progression & anaemia
I posted last week that I had been in hospital for treatment of severe shortness of breath. I feel better now than I did then, though I still easily get short of breath. One of the things that contributed to it was anaemia. I had an iron infusion before I was discharged, & went back yesterday for

Help with Non Hodkin’s Lymphoma
Hello I’m new here. I have just started a new regimen of treatment for Follicular Lymphoma. The first regimen R-CHOP got rid of the lump in my groin but unfortunately the lumps in my chest and neck resisted the treatment. My consultant told me this is not a good sign and he is concerned. They are communicating

No more NED for me!!!
My recent PET/CT scan revealed cancer growth in the peritoneal area. The doc says this is very unusual for MBC to show up there. Don't have a definite plan yet but leaning toward: 1. Biopsy to send to Foundation One 2. Starting Xeloda (pill) or Gemcitabine (intravenously) I was on Kisqali for 22 rounds

Questions for early stage trials
Hello lovely ladies 💐 I am coming to the end of my weekly Taxol and am due to have number 16 of 18 infusions tomorrow. This is the last treatment I can have locally as I have exhausted all they have to offer: debulking surgery, taxol, carboplatin, Avastin, Caelyx, Gemcitabine, Niraparub, Letrozole

Treatment for platinum resistant mucinous ovarian cancer?
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great day. I need your help. I am dealing with platinum resistant mucinous/endometrioid ovarian cancer. I am amid my second recurrence and devastated that the Carboplatin & Doxil combo is not working. Now, I am considered platinum resistant. My oncologist suggested

First reoccurrence
Hi all, I saw my consultant last Wednesday and she said that she was going to be taking my scan with her to a MDT meeting this Monday. She said that they will most likely agree with her that it’s time for me to restart chemo. This is my first reoccurrence, it’s in some lymph nodes now and I’m more scared

Laura Update - No More Chemo - On to Letrozole
Well, ladies, I have had some disappointing news these last few weeks. I went for my regular pre-Chemo blood tests, but my Oncologist called me the next day to say my Liver function looked bad. I wouldn’t be having Chemo and instead would get an Ultrasound of my liver. Also, my cancer marker had shot

Gemcitabine (Gemzar) - Your experience??
Exhausted usefulness of Ibrance/Faslodex. Experienced heart issues on 1st treatment of Xeloda, and onc says not wise to try again. So, knowing I react poorly to Taxol, he’s recommending gemcitabine infusions. Reading paper specifics are one thing- hearing your experiences are quite another. I’d be grateful

No Dice - Back to Bath for Laura
Hi everyone, forgive me for disappearing, but this has been a bit of a saga, as you will see. Well, these are very weird and difficult times, so quitting my weekly train trips to London is a good thing. However, giving 6 months to the discomforts of the Dice Trial, only to have it fail, is pretty disappointing

Nothing working on My Daughters MBC
My daughter was diagnosed stage-3, January 2018. She had dense breast, reason given for no early detection. She was going to MSK and told she was clear after one breast removed and many lymphs nodes, all cancerous. She also had chemotherapy first , (no shrinkage) followed by radiation. Returned to work

Gemcitabine and Carboplatin tomorrow
Good evening fellow teal friends. I saw my oncologist this morning and I am starting Gemcitabine and Carboplatin in the morning. My Ca125 has gone up to 374 from 166 in December and I have the new tumours. I am pleased that I can still have chemo although I'm slightly concerned by comments like "it's

Hello to all - I’ve not been very active on the forum over the last few months (although I read posts to see how everyone is from time to time). I finished 18 weeks of taxol at the start of October with a rising CA125. The scan I had straight after showed some progression in my primary tumour and a

The b****** is back
Morning lovely ladies. I had my appointment with my oncologist yesterday and she went through my scan with me. Basically the segment 5 liver metastasis has grown from 18mm to 28mm since August 21st and the nodule at the tip of the liver has grown from 9mm to 17mm. The paracolic deposits are largely unchanged
