Diagnosed with APS in 1998/99, on coumadin since 1996
I was hoping to be able to get my antibodies down and get off of
coumadin
someday. But after reading about many of the members' experiences here, I doubt that will happen.

Vitamin K antagonists
Warfarin (
Coumadin
) is the classic vitamin K antagonist. Why antagonize vitamin K? "Warfarin decreases blood clotting by blocking an enzyme called vitamin K epoxide reductase that reactivates vitamin K1.

The doctors immediately put me on

Changing Diets
Having decided to manage gallbladder disease through diet for several years, and after being recently diagnosed with A-Fib and prescribed Warfarin (
Coumadin

Surviving a brain bleed
Is there anyone on here who survived a brainbleed and has been on
Coumadin
or Warfarin since the 90's? My husband's INR has to be from 2.8 to 3.4. Talk about a balancing act.

Anyone had the flu jab in the UK this Year ?
The next day was mostly spent in bed as I didn't feel any better. the following day I had to have a routine INR blood test as I take warfarin (
coumadin
) an hour later I had a phone call from the nurse asking me "What on earth have you been doing ?" as my INR had gone from 2.4 to 4.2.

Monthly Blog: October 2018 by Professor Graham R V Hughes MD FRCP
Since the earlier descriptions of the syndrome 35 years ago, warfarin (
Coumadin
) has been the main treatment. Yes, aspirin and heparin have an important role, but, as in Mrs Jones case, where the danger of stroke was stalking her daily life, warfarin was the urgent treatment.

His physician felt that warfarin (
Coumadin
) was a step too far. Could you please advise?
What is this patient teaching us?
I want to use this patient’s history to discuss the important topic of ‘treatment failure’.

Anyone taking Coumadin?
Most docs now prescribe Pradaxa, Xerelto or Eliquis, but
Coumadin
is still the safest in terms of reversal in the case of bleeds.
