Exercise induced AF
I’ve had a great 4 years since my AF diagnosis, able to live pretty normally in terms of my choice of exercise with 3 years AF free following my cardioversion and just a few increasing episodes of paroxysmal AF in the last year. Recently I felt that a triathlon bike/run training session set off my AF

Statins
I had a call from my GP surgery about taking statins.Apparently my cholesterol is okay but I have a 38% risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Even though I take anticoagulant statins work in a different way and are recommended for me as I am in persistent afib I do not want to take statins but wondered

digoxin
Have been on Digoxin now for 6/12 and it has had a profound effect. Unable to take more modern drugs because I have Asthma. I am certainly much better than I was. I think it’s probably your hypotension drug causing your problems and have a consultation with your Gp.

"Failed" exercise stress test
I have AF, gradually worsening, with chest and throat pain during episodes. Cardiologist did an exercise stress test on Tuesday and stopped the test after 3 minutes. He told me I have ischaemic heart disease - which is a bit galling as I have never smoked and do not eat red meat, cheese, eggs etc. -

Travel with Afib
Plan to travel overseas in July. Permanent afib trying to adjust meds now to minimize side effects. On Digoxin, Lopressor, Eliquis. Any thoughts etc.

Bisoprolol
Hello, The cardiologist has swapped my medication from Verapamil to Bisoprolol, 2.5mg/day. So far so good as far as side effects go 👍 but there is one thing. I can't seem to get warm since the swap. The temperature here in the north east has dropped since our couple of days of summer but it's more than

I have just been diagnosed with a fib, after years of suspecting something was amiss, but never having episodes when a doctor, and even a cardiologist, was seeing me. I bought a Kardia6L, which showed many afib episodes. I took that to my GP of 13 years, and he immediately swung into impressive action

liver enzymes going up and down
I had a routine blood test 18 months ago which showed elevated GGT at 126. My GP told me to cut down on alcohol and I stopped having any alcohol at home and just had an occasional drink if I went out socially. I’ve never been a big drinker anyway. Fast forward to last September when I had another blood

Permanent AFib
Started on Digoxin .25 daily for past six days and cut Lopressor down to 25 twice a day. Am going to try to wean off. HR 80-110. Generally do not feel well and am going to revisit ablation. I had blurring of vision and dizziness on higher doses of Lopressor alone. Last cardioversion only lasted

So much confusion so much pain
I tell you I struggle every day. I look at pics of my wife from this time last year, 2 years ago 3 years ago. My wife was never a drinker. We had a glass of wine at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every now and then, maybe once or twice a year. She would have a drink at our friends. When we moved

Cholesterol and QRISK score
My GP has just completed my annual review and has referred me to the GP specialist Pharmacist to discuss statins. My cholesterol has always been well controlled with a reading of around 5 (I was told my good cholesterol was excellent). This year it has increased to 5.16 and he has also completed a QRISK

supplements for a fibs???
Has anyone here used magnesium or L arginine for atrial fibrillations? If yes, and you had good results, what were the dosages and how often daily? Thank you.

Not a PMR question but I’m hoping someone here can help. Sorry it’s a long post. I have been off pred for a couple of months and all is well, fingers crossed. I was offered, because I am now 70, a health check by the local surgery and asked for ESR and CRP to be checked too. They are good but my

I have just been diagnosed with paroxysmal afib after having to go to hospital with fast afib with a top heart rate of 190.I was in for 2 nights and sent home on bisoprolol and rivaroxaban and I was already on enalapril. Wellue 24 hr monitor
I've been using the wellue 24 hour monitor for about 6 months it's a very useful device as it is small and you just place it on the left below the collar bone with ECG sticky pads after the 24 hours you upload it to a program that you install on a laptop.I recently had a reading that includes short

pace and ablate
I lost my first post so I hope Im not repeating myself. Im a 63 year old woman with persistent AFib since 2020. After 2 years medication wasnt holding me and I could barely walk to the front door. Changed GP and cardiologist. 3 failed ablations later and I know in 2 weeks he will suggest pace and

Dealing with an AFib episode without meds.
I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal AFib by an Energency Dept Consultant who ordered certain tests to be done in the future and sent me home with Anticoagulants. I wasn’t given any advice on how to manage an AFib episode or a follow up consultation just a letter to say my test results were OK.A year later
