Has anyone here used magnesium or L arginine for atrial fibrillations? If yes, and you had good results, what were the dosages and how often daily? Thank you.

supplements for a fibs???
My cardiologist instructed me to take magnesium twice daily when I was first diagnosed with paroxysmal AF. It's a common supplement for people with AF. It didn't stop episodes occurring but who knows whether my AF would have been worse if I wasn't taking the magnesium.
When I saw him a few months later I asked whether I should stop taking the magnesium given I was still having episodes. He said no, and I'm still taking it now. The only change is I now take Magnesium Taurate (one of many forms of magnesium) as it also supposedly helps with sleeping..
My London Naturopath recommended a Mg compound that incl taurine & more (Nutri Mega Muscles) partnered with another supplement CoQ10. Taken both in differing dose levels for 11 yrs.
I have found Mg and melatonin in a rub-on skin lotion before bed has improved my sleep.
Think I might have made mine worse by having too much - was already having epsom salt baths, had a multi vit with a little in and our water filter adds magnesium, when I added in double dose magnesium taurate pills after reading Mg helps Afib. Cut out the epsom salt baths, and down to a single pill (plus the water with added mg) and that is fine. A bit of thought beforehand could have saved me an Afib episode for a week.
I think many do, yet I know a friend who swears by it yet still suffers palpitations and AF. It didn't work for me even after a long trial. If it provides comfort, though, and magnesium is very safe to take as all excess is excreted unabsorbed, I would definitely give it a try. The cheapest is the equal to the most expensive with magnesium, too, as such a small amount is absorbed overall.
I always think it's worth keeping in mind that magnesium occurs aplenty in all vegetables and even gives the green ones their colour. A healthy diet will provide more than enough.

i think Dr Sanjay Gupta of York Cardiology, says Magnesium is important for heart function and if I remember correctly he recommends Magnesium Taurate because Taurine is also important for the heart, you could check out his videos on youtube.
Also Magnesium deficiency is apparently quite common because modern farming techniques (fertilizers etc.) leach Magnesium from the soil and consequently our veggies have less than they should. It apparently takes a long time to build up Magnesium once you have a deficiency. I'm advised to take Magnesium Taurate long term, happy to do that as well as eat organic veg ...
good name .. I won't ask ...
magnesium cures my foot cramps. My pacemaker does the heart
