HC - making me feel worse
Hi everyone,. From May year i reluctantly self medicated with hydrocortisone 20mg after saliva test showed really low in all 4 points. I initially felt well , drowsiness and feeling groggily in the mornings disappeared along with headaches and yawning all day long. I still needed naps here and there

Hypo after all?
Hello everyone, this is my first post, though I’ve been gleaning pearls of wisdom from this site for a couple of years, so thank you all! I’m a 60-year-old male. I’ve had chronic fatigue since 1988; tight forehead pain and a horrible “saturated brain” feeling since the late 1990s (brought on by reading

Adrenal Insufficiency and reducing steroid inhaler
Hi,I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency last year and have been stable on 20mg of hydrocortisone. My respiratory consultant has reduced me from 2 puffs twice a day of 160 Alvesco to 3 puffs once a day. Now I'm feeling unwell. Could the reduction in my inhaler be impacting my adrenal insuffiency

referral - why?
My rheumatologist referred me to an endocrinologist because like many others I was struggling a bit reducing. I was on 4mg of pred. Apparently my synacthen test showed a normal basal level and a post of 432 - suboptimal but near normal. However the endocrinologist said he was “unsure whether it would

Fatigue, coma naps and pituitary
Hey everyone, Has anyone experienced such bouts of fatigue where you fall asleep and you just have to fall asleep that given moment and you are gone for an hour? This started happening to me in July last year, but got increasingly worse over time. I thought it was my iron, but I fixed that with iron

Anxiety/worry and extreme itching
I need to vent because this thing is driving me crazy. I've had anxiety off and for most of my life and am used to the symptoms and the ways to deal with them. Bitter Taste In Mouth
I have had a persistent bitter taste in my mouth since the end of December and the only respite that I get from it is either when I am sleeping, eating or drinking! It’s so bad that it is making me feel quite unwell! I am doing everything that has been advised eg drinking lots of water, brushing teeth

The correct way to ween down on hydrocortisone? Advice please.
My last post was when I was just starting on 20mg of hydrocortisone changing from prednisolone and needed advice. Further down the line more advice needed please. On Monday I tested Covid ‘Positive’ I had avoided it since the first day that dreaded name was on everyone’s lips so it was a shock to find

Adrenal insufficiency
After 3.5 years on Prednisolone and 1 year of Toccilizumab for GCA including sight loss (late diagnosis), starting at 60mg, I got down to 2mg following a Synacthen test in June 23 which apparently proved my adrenal glands were capable of working. However I couldn’t function at all, extreme fatigue,

Seretide and Addisons disease
I was diagnosed with Addisons in May 2023 and have been using inhaled steroids / seretide for chronic Asthma for 20+ years. My endocrine consultant told me to stop taking my seretide which I declined to do, as Asthma extremely well controlled, unless he refers me to Asthma team at hospital to manage

switch to hydrocortisone
I’ve been to see the endocrinologist today on the recommendation of the rheumatologist. I had a borderline synacthan test , on the basis of which today he has suggested I switch to 5mg of hydrocortisone twice daily from 4 mg of prednisolone. In the background to this I have also been prescribed low

Steroid-based inhaler warning
**Moderator note to anyone reading: if you have similar concerns please speak to a medical professional - don't stop your steroid inhaler or any other steroids if you're worried about adrenal insufficiency. It's dangerous for both adrenals and asthma.**

Anyone here on hydrocortisone and thyroid meds?
Hey all, Started hydrocortisone trial today as I'm having trouble tolerating thyroid meds and my morning saliva cortisol was 7% range, early afternoon was 9%, the rest was good. Any success stories? How much hydro do you take and your thyroid dose? I'm currently just trialling hydro, 10-7.5-5-2.5 mg

New to biologics - don't feel particularly well.
Evening all. Hope everyone is managing ok in this cold weather 🥶. So in the last 2 weeks I've had to take rescue doses for my adrenal insufficiency, had 2 emergency hydrocortisone injections (each one administered by work colleagues a week apart) as not caught early enough and generally felt off.
