I have just returned from an appt at the RBH where i was told that inmy last 2 blood tests it has shown that i have veryif eradable levels of pred in my blood despite taking 40+mg daily. Asthma, Panic Attacks & Adrenal Insufficiency
Ok, I have a confusing one here and don't know what to make of it! My son has severe asthma and is on all sorts of meds including long term Pred. I have been advised that during bouts of increased stress/illness he should take additional Hydrocortisone. Recently he has had a few asthma attacks that

First time at A&E - was scary (sorry, bit long)
Had an attack on way to work today - fortunately hubby was driving - and quickly realised wasn't getting better with Ventolin, so asked him to turn round and take me to hospital. Had to battle with the traffic back into town. By the time I got there I was nearly passing out, hyperventilating too and

Venting for a moment...(warning this is long)
I feel so bad whinging here, as I know many of the members here have much much more severe asthma than what I've got. I caught a cold a week ago, started with a sore throught on Monday, Tues the runny nose, no fever just slightly elevated ( 37.5-37.7). Wednesday morning I had increasing asthma symptoms

adrenal failure
Hello everyone I have total adrenal failure, along with other endocrinological problems (premature ovarian failure meaning that I produce no sex hormones, and also very low / borderlerline thyroxine levels). I have taken a lot of short doses of prednisilone over the years, but have never been on steroids

Missing work...
Hi! I'm a newbie, and so grateful having found this website last week! Essentially, I'm a teacher with asthma that is usually very well controlled. However, two weeks ago I had a huge flare up that had me hospitalised for 3 days. It was the worst I've ever had - crashed in the ambulance and ended up

Ape Woman!!
I think I read somewhere this can be a side-effect of steroids, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I'm currently on high-dose Pred (been a while now) and also on Hydrocortisone replacement so I'm taking a lot of steroid each day (plus what's in high-dose inhalers and creams for my

An Apology
I wanted to apologise if I've inadvertantly upset anyone here in the last week or contributed to any bad feeling here - I really would hate to be responsible for that as I think this can be a great place. Apparently I've been a really irritable difficult person in the last week and I've got a lot of

prednisolone to hydrocortisone switch
Hi, this is my first post but I have been lurking around some time. My son is 14 and was diagnosed with asthma when he was just a few months old. Over the years he has been on just about every asthma medication imaginable and ended up as a last resort on long term prednisolone which he has been taking

Stress (shock) induced asthma
HI all Well after 30 years it's finally happened, I have had my very first very clearly stress induced asthma attack. Last night some of my neighbours decided it would be a good idea to try to start a fight with a group of drunk kids being noisy outside my house and my hubbi went out to try to calm
