Autopsies tell us the secrets of Parkinson's...
The brains of Parkinson's patients tell us some of the secrets of the disease at autopsy... "For History must be our deliverer, not only from the undue influence of other times, but from the undue influence of our own, from the tyranny of environment and the pressure of the air we breathe". Acton.

Herbal Alternative of doxycycline (Quinine and knotweed)
The in vitro tests suggested that extracts from seven different plants were more effective against the Lyme disease bacteria than doxycycline and cefuroxime. The plants in question were black walnut (Juglans nigra), cat’s claw (Uncaria tomentosa), sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua), Mediterranean rockrose

Lung lobectomy - waiting for lymph node biopsy and feeling anxious
Hi! My mum was found with a ground glass nodule about a year ago and after many scans went in for a VATS wedge section to remove the nodule in November. The nodule was caused by her rheumatoid arthritis but the surgeon noticed some “ dots” around it and “ specks” on her lung so sent it for a biopsy.

Post-pleurodesis pains?
I had a VATS pleurodesis done on both my lungs 4 years ago when I was 16 (both happened 3 months apart from eachother) after spontaneous pneumothoraxes. Both surgeries went fine and they haven't collapsed since. However, every once and a while (maybe once/twice a month), I'll feel a sharp pain in my

Comfort at last!
I had a vats lobectomy over 18months ago and thankfully all well so far (apart from having treatment for anal cancer this year) but I digress. Wearing a bra is painful because I have a keloid scar from my cats op. After much research and help from doctors to no avail I have found an easy remedy that

One year after VATS
Hi everyone:) I have been following along but had nothing to share for the last year or so since VATS in November, 2018. No longer have burning nerve pain but still pain to touch and tight band around rib cage. Gabapenten and amitriptyline not helping. No one knows why I have this pain. My cardiothoracic

VATS PROCEDURE ADVICE PLEASE
I am terribly worried about my closest friend and I would value advice from my friends here who have undergone this procedure. My friend has had no chest problems up to this point, not even a chest infection after a virus. In August she suddenly became breathless and it was discovered that she had fluid

It's Not a Tumah
Ever wonder if in your sleep perhaps your cat's claw fell off, you rolled a certain way in the night, and it's now somehow lodged itself behind your eyeball? That's what kind of day it is.

Hip pain
Not quite sure where to start to be honest. My last bloods ( private- Blue Horizon Thyroid 15) were December 2018. I was taking NatureThroid (3.5 grains) The only reading that was near the top of the scale was ferritin ( 149ug/L with the range being 13-150) In July 2018 I developed pain in my right

Trying to stay positive
It's been 8 days since my lobectomy. Spent 5 of those in the hospital and am now home. Pain has changed over the past couple of days, with what feels more like nerve pain and numbness under my right breast. I also have a large water blister from the dressing tape. All I want to do is sleep. And when

Nerve pain after vats Lobectomy
Hi folks- yes I have nerve pain and I’m back to the gp today to get meds to help with the pain. I tried to stop the dihydrocideine but I’m afraid I couldn’t cope with the pain. Lung nurse and consultant talked about taking Amitriptyline for this pain. I’m fit to fly in 3 weeks for a holiday but want

Nerve pain after vats Lobectomy
Hi folks- although I got the all clear for the lung cancer I’ve had a swelling under right breast since1st week(now 4 weeks since surgery). Dr thought at first it was infection or shingles- it’s neither. Looks like nerve pain. It’s holding back my recovery. Anyone any experience of this and any suggestions
