Alendronic Acid - is it worth it?
Rheumatologist had just prescribed AA as the pred will be 'killing my bones'. She wants me to take it for 6 months then have a DEXA scan to see if I need to continue. Seems a bit of a barmy way round to me, but hey ho. So I have been reading back through all the posts I can find and am now absolutely

Is the RDA of Calcium based on what needs to be absorbed or the calcium food content to be consumed?
Is the recommended daily amount of Calcium based on what needs to be absorbed by the body, or amount of calcium content in the food to be consumed? That might sound like the same thing.. however I've read that calcium is never 100% absorbed or at least not from food. For instance absorption from cheese

Mediterranean diet
There was a question posted recently about diet and how to ensure that you are getting enough nutrients from food. I thought my answer might be useful to others, so here is much of information that I posted and a bit more in case anyone missed it. I attended a course on the microbiome (gut bacteria)

Would Valium affect my blood test for an under or over active thyroid ?
Hi, I was prescribed Valium just to relax me for a few days but I got a test to see if I’ve an Uber or over active thyroid. I am just wonder if the Valium will affect my results. Tuesday night I took 10mg of of Valium. Then I got a blood test Thursday morning at 8.30am. Is it possible it could damage

Health Anxiety
Hello, I'm a 70 yr old woman with severe health anxiety which I've had since I was 10. I have had therapy and have been on antidepressants for probably 15 years. Also valium as needed, but lately things have really gotten out of hand. I am jittery inside, have occasional myoclonic jerks, and I am convinced

There's more of us than I thought!
Hullo, I'm new here although I did look at the blogs some time ago. Basically I have the pre bowel movement anxiety (PBMA) thing that many others mention. I first started to notice this about 10 years ago and I get anxiety and occasional panic attacks anyway it took me a long time to make the connection

Do I have a thyroid problem?
Hi all, I have no idea if I have a thyroid problem, but I think I do. I have been struggling to conceive and whenI have I have suffered miscarriages. I also noticed 3 years ago a small goitre in my neck. I had tests done in the summer as I spoke with my GP about being tired and my neck and my fertility

What more can I do???
I'm having monthly episodes of SVT now, the latest last Mon (12 7 2020) did not resolve at home when I took another Metoprolol Extended Release tablet as my EP suggested, so off I went to the Emergency Room for an intravenous of different meds. Beta blocker intravenously did nothing, but calcium channel

I was supposed to wait 6 weeks until testing but I’ve got an email from my dr saying they are closing for a month on Wednesday (16th of December) so I felt I needed to go to check my levels before. I went this morning so unfortunately I took my last dose of T4 and T3 26 hours before testing ( not 8-

New Nephrotic Syndrome. A nurse who used to work in Renal medicine how ironic. Preliminary diagnosis of Minimal Change Disease
Home from hospital with added Covid but hopefully only minor symptoms to add to the mix. On Prednisone 40mgs Frusemide Atoravastatin Ramipril Calcium Omeprazole. Does anyone else get awful leg pains. Prescribed Gabapentin at night which helps & codeine in the day. Waiting for last in-depth analysis
