Pred/adcal
Advice please - is it necessary to take Adcal when my bone profile shows good calcium levels? When I next speak to the Doc (in a months time!) Im going to ask him if he will prescribe me just Vit.D. I had supposedly high cholesterol when starting on Pred several months ago, even though no one told

Is it possible to take a biopsy of a cardiac artery plaque in order to determine exactly what it contains?
Hi All I was found to have, via CT Angiogram, in July 16, a very high Calcium Agatston score of 1315. I then had CABG in Feb 17 at age 66. The day before I asked if it was possible to do a biopsy of a plaque, to help in identifying what they contained. They said it was not possible. Is this correct?

Optimal testing regimen
With a PCa with aggressive features (GS9,low-PSA,intraductal,BRCA2+) apparently senescent for the time being, I need an aggressive monitoring regimen. Shortly meeting a doctor at an oncology department, I will as the most important tests ask for the following four, preferably every two months (CTC

Phosphorus - ALT Phos!?
Hi! I was wondering if your alt phos is high, would taking MCHC calcium, which has phosphorus in it, be okay? I wasn’t sure if phosphorus and alt phosphate are related. Thanks!

Calcium supplements - continued
I have been reading the replies to Narwhal with interest, and note that calcium carbonate is not a good idea. I avoid any supplements generally, but I have wondered about taking a little calcium, vitamin D, and Vitamin K. I have just looked at the ones for sale on the Boots website, and found that the

Risks Associated w/Too Many Medications
I'm currently taking 8 medications for which there are no listed drug interaction effects, but I can't help but wonder whether doctors and pharmacists actually know what happens when so many medications are taken. Currently, I'm on: Carbodopa/Levidopa Rasigiline Nurianz Bupropion Gabapentin Quetiapine

Priorities for achalasia research
One of the exercises we have been undertaking in Achalasia Action is trying to work out what research would gain most support from those with achalasia. After all, people with achalasia are the ones most affected! So this is a brief summary of our work so far, and we would value any comments, suggestions

Taking Levothyroxine at night
Hi. Just a quick question, I’m taking various supplements, including calcium, as prescribed by my Naturopath, and my GP has agreed to prescribe me Levothyroxine liquid rather than the tablets as I couldn’t tolerate them (because of the starch that’s in them). So I was just wondering if anybody takes

eGFR after stone problems
Hello. I’m new here and would like to talk. I have kidney stones (2 in each kidney) and my eGFR is poor at 41 which puts me at 3b. Creatinine 1.46 (nr 0.51 - 0.95), Urea 44 (nr 17 - 43). I have kidney stones because of a medical condition which requires a medication which pushes a lot of Calcium through

Dexa results in, but what do they mean?
Got my results today, (apologies if this post is a bit long). The Summary letter says: RESULTS: With the lowest T-score of 1.5 in the Neck of Femur and Lumbar Spine (L1-L4) this examination confirms the diagnosis of Normal BMD as per WHO classification including ISCD recommendations. RECOMMENDATIONS

LBBB
I went to the primary dr to check up annual. They found out that I have abnormal LBBB. Again, I went to Cardiologist to explain to me. The calcium test showed 0. My heart is good because the wall and perfusion is good. But I don’t understand why I do have LBBB? Please explain.

Hashimotos/hypothyroidism low calcium?
Hi, I just did a private blood test to check calcium as I am so exhausted a lot of the time and I do get pain in my throat a lot (not swallowing) around my thyroid area. I know my friend had hyperparathyroidism and had adenomas removed. So I was expecting my calcium level to be high but it came back

Magnesium Supplements
I'm taking 350mg soluble magnesium carbonate every other day, as suggested by my GP before I was diagnosed. However, I have read that Magnesium Glycinate is specifically recommended for absorption and also as a sleep aid of sorts. Would welcome any feedback - i.e. what dose should be taken daily

Blood tests = Can of Worms. Anaemia or Hyperthyroidism? B12 & Serum Folate too low or OK? Other results all over the place! Any ideas?
Hi All, I have no idea what any of this means, but even I know some of it looks skewiffy! A couple of the results were flagged by the test itself; these are RDW and MCHC which may relate to thyroid function. Also the Serum Folate and B12 look a bit low so may be affecting my thyroid too. Are you able
