Besides exercise, medication etc etc I have been taking a wide range of supplements. I have no idea which individuals are beneficial. Based on advice I take:
- vitamin D, C, B complex (a few people have said I should focus non B1)
- omega 3
- Turmeric
- magnesium
- calcium citrate
- mannitol
What do you recommend?

Hi I was diagnosed early 2018 and started taking vitamin B1 Thiamine hcl about 12 months later I take 3 x500mg capsules every morning and I feel it is doing a great job of treating my symptoms. My condition has hardly changed in this time, I’m still playing competition squash twice a week and walking 8-10km a day. I think between the vitamins and exercise my symptoms are kept at bay.
I'm taking high dose B1, C, magnesium L-threonate, and (over the counter) l-dopa. I watch my diet (looking at Wahl's Protocol). Exercising 5x/wk (weights, swimming, pickleball) seems to also be a lot of help.
I take a lot of supplements in addition to my meds–
Madopar which I take with a 1 gramme Redoxin Vit C with the first tablet as recommended by my neurologist professor
Rasagiline
Co Q 10
Curcumin UP
Vitamin D3
Ginkgo Biloba
Magnesium
B12
The following four were recommended by a bio-chemist who my wife met ‘by chance’ on a flight as being good for healthy ageing-
Réservatrol
Tru Niagen
Astragalus
Super K (2 forms of K2+K1)
I also take Symprove probiotic again as suggested by my neurologist as being one of the few probiotics which can reach the lower gut.
I also take Atremo Plus daily-pricey but it helps.
Lastly I take something called Neuroseanol from Korea which I believe has improved my memory. It’s expensive but worthwhile I believe.
Yes they still leave room for food!
The other recommendation made was to consider doing the PD Warrior programme (Australian) which I highly recommend. I have been doing it for over a year on line and with a zoom consultation every 6 weeks with one of their Neurological Physiotherapists.

On a somewhat related note, a forum member has switched to thiamine mononitrate from thiamine HCI and reported significant improvement over thiamine HCI in her husband! Just thought you might find that interesting in case you missed that post.
He has his good days and bad days, the best for him seems to be melatonin for sleep 10mg and mannitol for sense of smell. B1 is tricky we are never sure if it's too much or too little but take it anyway. The NAC is just to keep his immune system strong in my opinion. His best relief comes from mucuna but that's just levadopa so I didn't mention it this time around.Cheers
