My "Osteoporosis" Journey
This is just copy and paste of an account I wrote to keep track of things for myself. Please note I have no medical training and I haven't checked to see if the web links at the end still work. I think most will. Since writing this account I've had a second DXA scan showing that within a year my bone

Alcohol intolerance. Is alcohol dehydrogenase causing our continued issues even after b12 injections?
I posted previously in regards to having issues with being able to drink any amount of alcohol without feeling like I got run over by a truck. Several others posted they also have this issue. I've been doing some research and alcohol dehydrogenase seems to pop up in several of the articles. https

Phytanic Acid
Sisira brought the subject up, in the context of red meat. He quotes Dr. Myers" "He says in more than 100 papers in scientific literature that he has read, phytanic acid present in these foods can promote the growth and spread of prostate cancer." & "Dr. Patrick Walsh in his book "Guide to Surviving

Beta-carotene thoughts
I've always been an advocate of healthy eating and the use of natural remedies when possible. I'm not stupid enough to discard conventional medicine when danger strikes so I'm not a fruitloop. I know I will have to stop taking my supplements once the chemo starts next week but I wonder if anyone has

Best form of Selenium Supplement: Selenomethionine
Hello, I need to buy a new box of my selenium supplement. The one I was using was from a brand called "Sentinel" and has other vitamins added to such as A and C and beta carotene, things I don't think I need. Now, I'm looking for a good brand. I've listened to an interview about Selenium and thyroid

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Fats - [1] Oleic & Stearic Acids – (Olive Oil & Animal Fat)
This is the first installment in a discussion of dietary fats, with respect to prostate cancer. Consideration is also given to cardiovascular health. The primary focus is on the cancer paradox: that the ratio of oleic acid to stearic acid increases as cancer progresses. Does it make sense to limit

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Peanuts
For those who care about such thing, I have given the humble peanut - a legume - its own post, divorced from the nut category. Unfortunately, PCa researchers have yet to do a peanut study. In the latest nuts study [1]: "Total nut consumption was defined as the sum of peanut and other nut consumption

Lutein/Beta Carotene
I've just been researching Marshalllow Root (which is supposed to be good for inflammation) and read that people with Hashis should avoid Lutein and Beta Carotene, but I can't seem to find out why. Can anyone help please?
