Has anyone been successful in knocking out a Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI?
My husband has struggled with recurrent UTIs since 2020 when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer , had several bladder surgeries, many cystoscopies, and yearly prostate biopsies….so a lot of poking around .. He has been on antibiotics many times , and has been on daily low dose bactrim for almost

LVV Relapse Update
Good news … after 2 weeks at 25mgs pred, my markers are back to “normal”, ie CRP at 2 and ESR is 8. I have had two TCZ jabs a week apart, so could this have already created the masking effect, which had waned with the 4 weekly jabs? Now to begin the taper: 20mgs for 2 weeks and then 17.5 x 2 etc.

Inflammation
I was hesitant to post this, thinking that this was a minor idiosyncrasy only specific to my situation. But I just saw a query about Bactrim, which made me think that it might be worthwhile to share this info. This is also in relation to the recent postings on whether or not inflammations can cause

prednisone and antibiotics
Has anyone had a problem with antibiotics wiping out prednisone. Was down to 2.5-lowest in 8 years. Took antibiotics (Bactrim) and all old PMR symptoms came back. Hurt all over. Read Bactrim and Cipro are quinolones and do not work well with Steroids. Neither Dr or pharmacist knew this. Not sure how

My GCA Update
I just got done with my MRIs and MRAs, so we’ll see if results show much. My blood test came back with sed rate normal (always has been) and C-reactive prrotein headed down. It went from normal in PMR, to 1.3 and then 2.0 in GCA. Now at 0.8, so barely high and heading in the right direction. Still feeling

Dropped fron 22.5 prednisone to 20 three days ago and started having bad uti consequences. It must just be a consequence. See if Bactrim antibiotics works. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Pentamidine?
I am on V + O treatment. My last Obi infusion is July 3. A month ago I developed a rash on my chest, neck, and face. My oncologist had me stop Bactrim to confirm it was the culprit. The rash cleared within a week. Now he has me scheduled for an oral inhalation of pentamidine. I am concerned about this

6 month transplant anniversary!!! Whoo hoo
Today is the 6-month anniversary of my kidney transplant. All continues to go very well with the exception of low white blood cell count. This has improved some but still comes in between 3.0 and 3.75 with 4.0 being the bottom of the normal range. Inspite of my low WBC count and pulling of bactrim 7

Preventative Antibiotics
Hi all, I've been a GCA patient since AUG 2022 and am currently on 40 MG PRED (down from 60, then 50). My rheumy is concerned about my immune system and has prescribed a preventative course of atovaquone to protect me from pneumonia -- even though I've recently had the pneumonia vaccine, He prescribed

Recently got fever and went back admitted to the hospital with an infection. After some testing, they found have Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and sent

I finally received a Bipolar TURP Surgery after More Than 6 Months of Waiting and Several False Starts - Doing Well after One Week
I told her that I had noticed the same thing and had convinced the Infectious Diseases Specialist (I am a pharmacist with a clinical background) to give me a ten-day course of
Bactrim
DS
, a broad spectrum antibiotic for UTIs, and that I would be finishing it the next day.

Feeling dehydrated even with drinking 2-3 liters per day
My Doc just called in a prescription for
Bactrim
DS
(antibiotic) which I have yet to start. When ill in July, I was treated for the diverticulitis with IV fluids and antibiotics and it took several weeks for the inflammation to settle down. I am scheduled for follow up colonoscopy.

Hi, I was just put on Bactrim, which is an anti biotic, to go with my high dose of Prednisone. Rheumatologist says it is to keep from getting pneumonia.

Does anyone have any experience with antibiotics and liver disease ? I’ve been prescribed bactrim by my urologist but can’t seem to find anything solid regarding the safety of taking these pills with fatty liver . Any info would be appreciated.
