Bactrim

He has been on antibiotics many times , and has been on daily low dose bactrim for almost a year for a Klebsiella pneumoniae infection that always reoccurs when he tries to go off . He had one consult with an infectious disease doctor at Mayo , otherwise sees a Urology PA at Mayo .

I have started taking Bactrim for a UTI and I am having a terrible time sleeping due to RLS Is Bactrim a medication that can cause worsening of RLS?

The Bactrim is making me a bit constipated so going to stop it at 20mgs, ie tomorrow.

But I just saw a query about Bactrim, which made me think that it might be worthwhile to share this info. This is also in relation to the recent postings on whether or not inflammations can cause, or at least exacerbate RLS.

Took antibiotics (Bactrim) and all old PMR symptoms came back. Hurt all over. Read Bactrim and Cipro are quinolones and do not work well with Steroids. Neither Dr or pharmacist knew this. Not sure how high I should go. Any suggestions?

My doctor just notified me: “Ordered Bactrim 1 tab to be taken M/W/F FOR Infection prophylaxis while on high dose steroids .” Is that standard? She also ordered a medicine to protect my stomach from the 60 mg steroids: famatodine, 20 mg. Same as Pepcid AC, I think?

See if Bactrim antibiotics works. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Is there a different antibiotic to replace bactrim that can be taken by pill?

Inspite of my low WBC count and pulling of bactrim 7 months early as well as valcyte 1 month early, I’ve had no infections. So I’m staying infection-free with mask wearing and lots of hand washing, etc. I have an appointment at the transplant center tomorrow.

Last Thursday I started an antibiotic (Bactrim) and a couple days into it I noticed what looks like bruises on my lower cheek on one side. It's not a typical allergic reaction. I feel fine no fever, UTI seems to be cleared up. Has anyone experienced any strange bruising on Venclexta?

The other option was bactrim, which can NOT be taken with alcohol. I'm wondering if any of you (who are on high doses of PRED) have also been prescribed preventative antibiotics? I hate to take things I don't need to take, especially when I'm already a space cadet with all this PRED.

In fall of 2022 I was diagnosed with recurring pneumonia and treated with antibiotics (bactrim) and steroids-prednisone. At the same time I was taken off of tomoxifen.

I wanted to just share this in case anyone else has similar issues with reacting badly to some antibiotics (particularly Trimethoprim or Bactrim) after developing a B12 deficiency.

Interestingly she said anyone on prednisone should be taking antibiotics to prevent development of pneumonia: Bactrim which you take until you're at 20 mg pred. Anyone heard that before?? This is first i heard of it but i could definitely have missed posts about it.

Hi, I was just put on Bactrim, which is an anti biotic, to go with my high dose of Prednisone. Rheumatologist says it is to keep from getting pneumonia.
