Anyone had a 6 week course of Minocycline 50mg bd for calcinosis ?
Hi everyone further to my blog on 'more antibiotics':- I have completed the erythromycin course for the calcinosis in my left knee, with a marginal improvement but it has not healed so I have now been prescribed minocycline. Being a self confessed antibiotic junkie, through no choice

I take Azithromycin Mon.Wed.Fri. as a prophylactic. After 8 weeks the diarrhoea side effect is getting me down. Is there an answer to this?

Has anyone got experience of coming off long term azithromycin for a month or two at a time?
I've been on azithromycin for 18 months for bronchiectasis and allergic asthma. Consultant suggested I try giving it a break for a couple of months then starting it again. 10 days into this break I've got a hideous cold and feel wheezy. Really tempted just to get straight back on it again as I don't

Is anyone else suffering from an increase of illnesses since having Viral Meningitis or Viral Meningio-Encephalitis?
Hi - I was admitted as an emergency with Mengio-Encephalitis in August 2011 and put in isolation for over two weeks. Since then, have been back into hospital four times: 1). Nov 2011 - I began a severe chest infection that four doses of anti-biotics couldn’t shift! 2). Feb 2012 - I was admitted

The shakes
Over the last couple of months I have had the shakes, even when I look in the mirror I can see my face shaking and my hands are so bad I can hardly write. I mentioned this to my Resp nurse and she asked if I was overdoing my inhalers which I am not. I am on Spriva Respimat, Bricanyl and Seretide with

I've just been prescribed Azithromycin 3 times a week for Bronchiectasis. I'm very concerned about the cardiac risks of this drug.
I've suffered in the past from SVT which was treated with ablation but still get short 'runs'. Does anyone have a similar experience/advice?

Azithromycin
I have been taking Az for some time now - 250mgs each day/or every other day. There has been much written in the techical papers both for an against regular dosing. The "Fors" advise that it does have measurable benefits in reducing the number of exacerbations in cases of severe and very severe COPD.

PBC and Fibro Myalgia
There seems to be a mix up over what my pain is - Fibro or something else. The Liver doctor does not think it is to do with my PBC. Now I have sinus pain and toothpain- soon to have a root canal -and am on ERYTHROMYCIN which makes me itchy. Anyway seems sinus or tooth have affected each other..great

Talking about Medication
I guess I have taken most of the medications mentioned on this site but have settled (for some time) on Symbicort (three puffs a day) and Spiriva (one puff). Atrovent, Ventolin either as a MDI or nebuliser really have no noticeable effect. Also tried OnBrez but it made my breathing worse (like a lead
