Different AF Types
I have noticed that I get two types of AF periods. One is where my heart goes into an irregular beat but stays within the normal pulse rate. The other is where it jumps to around 160bpm and is irregular. Is there a difference in the two and how long can you leave the high heart rate before thinking

AV block and Supraventricular tachycardia runs...
Hi everyone, Am fairly new here (diagnosis mid April) and my first post ... but have been reading you all lots and it has really helped me understand things and be less anxious, and you all sound so nice :). I have a question I would be so grateful if any of you could shed some light on what it means

Post operative delirium
I am new to the group and see how supportive it is. I think this is especially important at a time when many NHS hospitals, like mine in North London, are unable to provide a face to face cardiac rehabilitation service because their rooms have been repurposed. I was diagnosed with heart failure earlier

Kardia different reading to normal. Being Normal Sinus. Today’s reading: Sinus Rhythm with PVentricular Contractions. HR also higher today?
Kardia reading different to normal. Usually Normal Sinus. Today it reads: Sinus Rhythm with Premature Ventricular Contractions. My heart rate, although 80-90 heart beats per minute is within normal range it is still higher than the 60-70 it has been since I started on Bisoprosol. I also feel hot and

A little disheartened!
So I'd rather keep things positive but I suppose I can only be honest! Its 7 weeks since ablation for afib. Before ablation I was symptomatic during afib (shortness of breath, dizzy and palpitations and sweating) but when it self terminated after a while I was generally fine. And could excersise generally

Excellent consultants visit!
Hospital visit went well. ECG done, Echocardiogram done. Saw the very nice consultant who said that they will be doing something to patch my holes! If possible they will use the umbrella like thing, but if it is too big/complex they will have to do open heart patching! I'm going for a cardio catherisation

Exercising with A-FIB - and after affects
I have had 2 ablations (2017, 2019) and (I think) 7 Cardioversions and discovered (confirmed) today that I am back in a-fib unfortunately. I have aortic stenosis and a parachute mitral valve ("the structure of my heart is not normal" in the words of my EP) which we think is the reason for the ablations

AFib or other arrhythmia??
Hi peeps, as some of you know, I was diagnosed with Afib last year. Prior to this, I had had another type of arrhythmia for many years and had been under a cardiology dept for nearly as long. My problem now is differentiating between Afib and the other arrhythmia. When I was first taken to hospital

Anxiety following TIA end of July, has anyone had similar?
I have had open heart surgery July 2019, replacement aortic valve, and single bypass. The TIA came out of the blue, was going to my daughter’s house for the evening, husband has a pizza oven, and they were having friends round. I went to write a card for someone, and the words wouldn’t make sense! Rang

Due to have heart bypass on Wednesday. I usually wear crop tops but have been told to wear front fastening bras. Won’t it rub on scar?
Would appreciate any female related advice.

creating a warfarin app - how should it look like to you?
hi everyone - I have looked around the internet for good apps that can help you manage your INR level but I haven't found any. As my hematologist is considering switching my anticoagulant from Fragmin to warfarin, I would like to create an app that makes my life easier on this medication. I code, so

hi everyone - I'm new to this platform but I am extremely happy I have stumbled upon it. Happy days
100 days since open heart surgery for leaking mitral valve. This is me at the summit of CATBELLS this morning. Reached the top in 36 minutes non stop. All thanks to hard work and the fantastic rehab girls at Papworth. All those small steps lead to larger steps lead to the success I had today.

Atrial Fibrillation or not?
My query is do I have Atrial Fibrillation or should it be named something else. I have a normal sinus rhythm but I am tachycardic and the heart rate spikes at times. I have frequent ectopic beats but have been advised they are of no concern. Just been prescribed 1.25mg of Bisoprolol.

Skipped beats in a row
I can go about my day to day fine with no symptoms, and out of nowhere and during my sleep I can have about 5 skipped beats in a row before I jump back into NSR - does anyone else have experience of this? It’s very jolting waiting to go back to NSR, I’m about to start bisopropol to see if this will help

New here
Hi everyone. I am new here. My story began approx 2 years ago when I woke up not being able to breath. I was taken to the great PAPWORTH hospital in Cambridge. After tests I was told that I had to have open heart surgery to replace my Mitral valve. This was done with pigs tissue making up the new valve
