Hi everyone, is it ok to use deep heat patches. I have really hurt my neck today, been to hospital and they said I have hurt the large muscles in my neck.I have always got a bad neck and a.ways rub with deep heat cream. My question is could I try the deep heat pads. Would they cause any problems with my AF? Thanks x

All I can think of is a possible interaction if you are on warfarin or any other blood thinners,,,,check with a pharmacist,,,that would be my concern,,,,

Hi there, I have used a heat pad on my neck many times but was worried about actual pads so decided against it. Have just ordered a neck pad should be here later. Thanks anyway.

NSAIDs (such as ibruprofen) are not a great idea as they are known to cause AF as well as interfere with anticoagulants so best check with your pharmacy regardaing the contents.

Do you have an electric heating pad? I use one for my neck on the lowest setting. I suppose it depends on what triggers your Afib or makes it worse. We're all different and I think it is trial and error trying different things. Good luck. Hope you find some relief.

I can't give you an official answer to this Gillybean123, but I can tell you that I regularly use an electrically heated heat pad around my shoulder and neck for an ongoing frozen shoulder. I have PAF and the heat pad doesn't appear to bring on any episodes, though naturally sometimes I am in AF when I actually use it. I've had AF for more than four years now (even though diagnosis took a long time), and I've used the pad for half that length of time.

Great stuff Gillybean123, I hope it works as well for you as it has for me! At the very least it is really comforting! 👍

Thanks!

Glad you enjoy the Free for All on Fridays! I find that carers sometimes need a bit of a chance to forget about their caring duties and it all helps to allow members to get to know each other a bit better. My heat pad came from Amazon and this is the second one of the same brand that I've had and I really like it. I bought a second so that I could use one underneath me too, for my back which I really love too. There are many on sale but these have proved to be reliable and comfortable; (Sweet Dreams Electric XL Heat Pad with 6 Heat Settings). Quite honestly I've never needed more than heat setting 3 at the max. I do find that lying on it rather than trying to wrap it round me, gives much the best results! I hope that helps!

I use the Deep Heat stick on pads all the time, they are great and do not contain any medication in them, it states on the packet they are heat therapy only.
