New Diagnosis

I was prescribed Asacol for 28 days. The pharmacy only had half the amount so was then prescribed Panasta suppositories as Asacol had been discontinued. After seeing the consultant in May this year she confirmed it was mild colitis and prescribed more Pentasa.

High inflammation, bad symptoms but no diagnosis!

I was given anti-inflammatories (asacol) for this and ticked along for a few months before being hit by the worst flare up yet. My calprotectin levels were almost 2000 and they should be under 50!!! Was sent for urgent colonoscopy and NOTHING was seen!

Asacol vs Salofalk foam enema

As many of you who have been using Asacol foam enema know, this product has now been discontinued and as a result my GP prescribed Salofalk instead. However, I'm not sure it does such a good job as the Asacol did. Does anyone else have a similar experience of these two products?

Any advice please?

It ends with “ it may be that we trial you off asacol at some point in the future if your symptoms improve but I think we simply need to keep an open mind” I don’t understand.

Constant flaring

I take asacol twice a day but since last June I have had 3 courses of steroids (8 weeks each time). I have just finished my most recent course and already my symptoms have returned. Does anyone else experience this and how was it treated?

Am I still in a flare? - advice if you've had experience please

Hi there, I was diagnosed with UC in May and tried Asacol enemas, Colifoam enemas and Pentasa to get it under control but nothing worked until I was given 8 weeks of Prednisolone. I went back to my Consultant for follow-up when I finished the Pred. and we had a chat.

IBS or Microscopic Ulcerative Colitis

After 6weeks I was prescribed Asacol, following a colonoscopy. It helped. Since then I have had just minor flare ups and they have mostly been short lived.

New here, please be gentle

I was diagnosed last year and put on Asacol. Was fine (ish) until Nov when they changed meds to salofalk crystals. Turned me into a zombie! Couldn't eat, drink, sleep and had no idea where I was.

Thyroid results explained

I am also taking anti depressants and Asacol for UC . Can anyone explain basically what the numbers will mean when I go for my blood test this coming week so I can properly discuss my thyroid levels with my GP. Thankyou in advance.

Crohn's Disease for over 35 years

I have tried Asacol, Sulfasalazine, Entocort, Imuran, Remicade and of course Prednisone. I have only been hospitalized once, 3 years ago, with a partial bowel obstruction and was put on Remicade which ended up to be a horrible experience.
