letter from consultation
just had my letter from my meeting last week … still awaiting diagnosis but please I welcome your thoughts on this….. I note the serial blood counts that you kindly sent through from a number of different laboratories. These demonstrate a mild thrombocytosis, normal renal and liver function tests,

Iron. So confused.
Hi all, I'm going crazy with trying to understand what is going on with my iron levels right now. I recently got a NHS iron panel test that came back high - suggesting iron overload to which my GP panicked, but critically they missed off serum ferritin as there was a national reagent shortage. Blood Tests for Children
Hi all Finally managed to get blood tests for my children but annoyingly, my daughter was not tested for all cofactors - just B12. Son is being tested tomorrow and I want to give him a list to give to the nurse, but I can’t remember all the cofactors. Not one off my best days today! B12 Vitamin

Postherpetic Neuralgia and B12
Not directly related to PA, but nonetheless of potential interest to those with PA as well as anyone with Postherpetic Neuralgia. (I currently have PHN and am taking methylcobalamin every day. Alongside capsaicin cream. Difficult to know if it is helping, but I think it is.) [i]

T3 much better but feeling worse again!
I'm on a high dose of levo, 200mcg per day (I weigh 80kg right now), and just got test results back that show my T3 levels are much improved. However, of course, my TSH is now below range and my T4 way over. My ferritin, etc, is as bad as it's ever been, despite taking 210mg of ferrous fumarate each

Pernicious Anaemia, Hashimoto's, Connective Tissue disorder, Migraine
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with this condition. I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (diagnosed in my thirties). Any advice on supplementing B12 injections would be much appreciated.

MMA results - supplements or further test?
Can I ask for your advice please? I have Hashmito’s. Since learning that this can influence the absorption of nutrients, I have been to the doctor’s to request tests. Last B12 test: 229 ng/l (190-910) I used B12 symptoms checklist which suggests severe deficiency. Neither of this seemed to worry

Buprenorphine
I am writing this to highlight how miraculous Buprenorphine has been for me and many others on this site. My sleep app shows how good my sleep is. I had never heard of buprenorphine until Shumbah posted that it had resolved her severe, refractory RLS. No neurologist has ever mentioned it. Like Shumbah

mental health and pernicious anaemia
Hi all, my partner has pernicious
anaemia
,she is 38 and has been diagnosed for about 6 years. she has injections every 6 weeks. We are having real struggles in our relationship. I believe allot of her anxiety, mood swings, controlling behaviour, intensity is caused by her PA.

Not sure about next steps
My cousin has just been diagnosed with Pernicious
Anaemia
and our shared Great Grandfather also had it. She has all the typical symptoms, including pins and needles, however, my symptoms don't include dizziness or pins and needles.

Hello and any advice for withdrawal?
I've been an RLS sufferer since I was 13 and I'm now 56. I've done all the good lifestyle stuff and nothing much helps. After 14 years in clinic with Professor Chaudhuri, told at every 6m appointment there have been no breakthroughs or new developments, have learned about iron infusion. I have requested

Interesting fact about B12 levels.
'The "normal" levels of B12 have been set at those levels necessary to prevent pernicious
anaemia
- this may not be the same as those levels for optimal biochemical function.' Maybe we should be referring our GP's to the article?

E.T. Jak2 positive since 2018. On Hydroxicarbamide since autumn 2019. Bloods every three months and platelets reduced and more or less stable. This last six months, HCT has crept from 0.44 where it usually stays to 0.46.Dr suggested increasing HU to two tablets, four times a week and one tablet three

Advice on iron supplements
So... the next steps in taking control of my own treatment. I've been for my private bloods this morning including IFAB and gastric parietal antibodies, MMA and homocyeine. I've now resumed B12 SI and am taking vit D and K2 supplements. My ferrin is low, so I'm going to start iron supplements. I'd

Top of Range Active B12
Is it possible to have pernicious
anaemia
, low intrinsic levels, with high active B12? I have terrible foot and lower leg neuropathy that has ruined my life so I have to be sure I'm safe in ruling B12 out. I'm also hypothyroid and have struggled for years with that medication for that.
