Flixotide 250
Hi all, I am looking for more advice! This time regarding an inhaler. I have recently been given Flixotide 250 and have been instructed to take 2 puffs morning and night. After doing a bit of research, I see this is quite a high dose inhaler. I recently had a flare up (not sure of the trigger) and was

Is Avastin actually worth the terrible side effects?
I’m on 4 of 6 first line chemo for stage 3b/4a HG OC. My doc offered me the option of starting Avastin before the last one & I did (15 months). Since then I’ve had terrible bowel probs (I had a stoma reversal before my 3rd chemo) & really awful aches in legs, bum & feet. I can’t clear bowels properly

Combisal vs Fostair
My asthma has been somewhat out of control the last couple of months. My usual prescription of Fostair 100/6 (2 puffs twice a day) and daily Montelukast has not been working well enough. I 've also been getting nightly crackles in my chest when I breathe in, although the asthma nurse doesn't think

So..... you have asthma!
I hope most of this is not new to most people (and so apologies for probably boring you senseless 😅). But there seem to be quite a number of people new to asthma (hi and welcome to HU!) who haven't been told the basics and for whom proper monitoring and care is not happening. Also I know of people who

Asthma action plans
Hi everyone Hopefully this will be a nice, short post (unlike the usual essays 😅😂😉) Action plans - everyone needs one, not everyone has one! When you’ve been diagnosed with asthma (as in the docs are pretty sure this is the issue), this should be first on the cards! It clues you in when to get help

Anyone else’s allergies starting?
Anyone else’s with tree allergies having early hay fever? This feels crazily early but I’ve definitely got allergies.... trying to figure out if it’s trees or related to heating being on all the time?

Recent warnings about vaccine safety
This is a known issue to health professionals and it will affect only a small minority of people: "vaccine-associated anaphylaxis has been a rare event". But these recent warnings are worth reading especially if you are prone to allergies. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/12/suspicions-grow-nanoparticles-pfizer-s-covid

Asthma may heighten flu risk and cause dangerous mutations.
We have recently shown that the non-
allergic
, paucigranulocytic subtype of
asthma
is associated with impaired type I interferon production. Here, we seek to address if this is associated with an increased emergence of influenza virus variants.

Question about vaccine eligibility
Apologies if it's been covered already but I couldn't find anything following a search of the forum. Since the beginning of the pandemic the nhs has been pretty clear that even if your asthma doesn't require you to shield you would still be at higher risk of complications. That pretty much reflects my
