I dont know if this is right or wrong but I sometimes add other exercises at the end of the session if I've got time. Today I added heel raises because I ended up near some steps. Does anyone else do this and if so what do you do?

What podcast are you on? Podcast 5 has sit to stands with calf raises. You can keep using podcast 5 after completing this plan.
I'm about to finish podcast3. Sit to stands with calf raises sounds very hard! I usually feel like more exercise after I finish the podcast and it seemed to me a good time to add on a few stretches as muscles are warmed up but wasnt sure if that upsets the balance of the exercises in the podcast.
Jenniej, I think it's fine to bolt on some extra exercises if you feel like it.
