September on S&F: Our Virtual Workout Mat - Do you have an indoor workout corner?

From summer, we are moving fast into autumn, the time to take your S&F workouts inside! Until now, I’d been doing most of my stretches outside, trying to lengthen the time I spend in the sun or fresh air.

But once we now step into the cooler season, my workout corners come into their own.

In our living room, we have a corner for weights workouts and my step. We don’t have a dedicated TV screen there anymore, so have to use the TV that is on the other side of the room. But it kind of works when using smartphones or iPads for following workouts, or moving the yoga mat in front of the TV, when doing workouts on YouTube,

The second TV screen is now upstairs in our guest room and in front of my indoor rower. And between the rower and the guest bed, there is just about enough space for my second yoga mat, where I do my post row stretches, bodyweight and resistance band stretches. As there are some rowing workouts that include bodyweight exercises. This actually works well, although there is not much space.

So where are your indoor working out corners? And do you have a basket with all sorts of equipment, like resistance bands, small weights, yoga knee pads?

Below we provide the links to two types of follow-along workouts: Yoga with Adriene and The Girl with the Pilates Mat. These two YouTube instructors seem to be popular with our members, but many of us are following various other instructors, so feel welcomed to this mat, no matter which instructor you follow.

So feel free to pop in when you feel like it!

So here are the two links:

★ FIRST, for our yoga fans: Yoga with Adriene YWA calendar:

yogawithadriene.com/calendar/

★ SECOND, regular session or even live sessions for our Pilates fans, The Girl with the Pilates Mat:

youtube.com/@TheGirlWithThe...

And just head the Community tab to find her weekly planner with lists of workouts. The workouts will be in the playlists marked for the week and month.

So feel free to reply to this post when you do a workout. We’d love to hear how you are getting on. .

And our general guidance is below:

If you are just joining us, big WELCOME to you and any new Virtual Workout Buddies! A short daily practice like Yoga or Mat Pilates is perfect to get some S&F into your day. But if you are looking for something else, here is a nice welcome post to invite you to the many S&F opportunities here on the forum: healthunlocked.com/strength...

And feel free to - as Adriene says - “find what feels good”, meaning if your knees feel too sensitive, amend that Child’s Pose. And if you find full planks are the stuff of nightmares, rather do half planks than full ones. Do whatever feels right to get the maximum enjoyment from these sessions. And definitely get creative with props.

Upwards, crow-wards and down dog-wards another months practice!

(Save this post to get notified of any updates from everyone here on the mat.)

Happy working out everyone!

Hello... playing catch up here... I do have a designated place, in my studio... but... it often gets taken over by other people...a cross-trainer that was waiting to go its new home with my daughter and family...a small person's favourite project

Since selling my treadmill. the small gym area has been redesignated as a store room... with new shelving, built by me... and I have finally rescued the space I have for indoor exercise. Cross trainer has left the building!

I have a floor area ,clear and unsullied, for my Yoga, weight training and Tai Chi... and a small tv, which I can link to You Tube for watching my favourite workout videos... always good to have someone to workout with!

My gear is stored neatly on a top shelf in the aforesaid new store room, yoga mat and small weight set.

This is great... it is a lovely room to work in...and heating available for the cooler days.... now all I need is to find time to get into a really thorough exercise routine... so ,any spare time, gratefully accepted:)

That sounds lovely! Glad you managed to take your workout space back! Great set up!

Time is a difficult one, isn’t it. Now, do we have space to put a Tardis or Time Machine in there as well! 😁

Oh, a very good idea.... I shall watch out for telephone boxes in strange places, whilst out on my next run... ( now there is one for an Active 10 challenge... things you see, that are in very odd places) !
