I’m still having fun in Zwift’s Watopia, indoor-rowing my running avatar around beaches and bridge waterways.
Today was the third of my training sessions (Zwift101) and it was an interval session. This works as well on a indoor rower as it does on a treadmill, if you ignore the hints about keeping your arms relaxed and feet mid strike.
But it really is so much more fun trying to keep your efforts in a certain wattage of input. The program adjusted these from the first two runs, so the easy, hard and medium efforts run really mapped well to rowing with similar efforts.
I gave done intervals on a rower before, rowing to a work-along video, but it is more fun like this.
I also learned how to set a goal for just this run, and I managed pretty well to keep in my blue, green, red and yellow zones. Amazing!
My avatar even did various stretches on my behalf, although I did do my own set of stretches once I came off the rowing machine!
This ends my first week of three rows, and I’m heading to the final week of Zwift101!
(my foot with its on and off metatarsal pain seems to be thanking me for the running break, as it is feeling better again!)
