Ever since 1st of January, when I and hubby joined the daily yoga gang, we have adopted a nice pattern in the morning.
For me it’s tea, shower, yoga, family breakfast, and then work for me. 🫖🚿🧘🏾♂️🥣💻 During the week, my runs tend to be at lunchtime (necessitating showering twice) or first thing in the morning at weekends, pushing the yoga practice into the afternoon or evening. 🏃♀️🚿
But it was not always so. Last summer (my first running summer), it was run first thing in the morning (3/week), shower, work. 🏃🏽♀️🚿💻And on un-run days, I’d do the S&F programme outside first thing in the morning before showering. Or alternatively lunchtime, missing out on a shower afterwards.💪🚿💻
So as we are moving into the summer, I am having a hard time deciding wether to prioritise morning yoga or morning runs! And somehow the showering aspects feed into this.
So my question to all you Yogis out there:
DO YOU SHOWER BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR YOGA PRACTICE?
I myself really love coming to the mat all fresh and showered, but then most of the practices I like are only 20 - 30 minutes.
So would just be interested to know.

My running day routine is run first thing (sometimes HIIT too), yoga (in running kit as I’m not a profuse sweater - TMI? 😅), then bath. I’m a bath person rather than a shower one, and I love soaking feeling righteous! ❤️
Even on non-running days I tend to do yoga first. 🧘♀️
... nice, yoga after running, mmmh 🤔 ... bath is generally too hot for me, and it also be embarrassing as the only bathtub on our property is in the garden (for the almost rescue goose we almost got given) 🤣🤣.. but another vote for hitting the mat before the bathroom.... mmmh... 🤔
In one of the old books on yoga my father had (he's 92, books form the early 50's - long before ''physical yoga started being taught in gyms) they do mention a cleansing ritual before practicing asanas in the morning...
I am endlessly in the shower at the moment.. running first thing in the morning, then shower.. daily stuff gets done, 4pm ride the horse, then shower, .. dinner then yoga.. depending on how hard the workout is a quick shower after too... then bed. my hair only gets washed once a day usually after running 🏃♀️
Ok, so now I know why showering before yoga is a good thing. Did anyone else catch in today’s YWA session that Adriene was actually asking us to smell our armpits? 😂😂
