Well, the new YWA calendar has dropped and I’ll drop the links tomorrow. So just checking in with everyone on how the March calendar of MOVE has been?
I found it at times too fast, also too hard,- but also always enjoyable. I think I’m now hooked, and cannot imagine a daily practice without YWA. But I definitely rejoice every time a 15 min to 20 min session appears on the calendar, rather than a 30 or 40 min practice! And those few 5-min practices feel like a valuable present.
So how has your practice evolved? Mine is still emerging, but I have started to only use one blanket - instead of two - to pad my knees. Planks are sometimes possible, which is an improvement from ‘never possible’.
I still can’t do crows, or hunching on my feet. So my knees still request the utmost respect when I make decisions around poses that need bending 180 degrees, and I continue to give them this respect.
But they and most parts of my body definitely have improved slightly, but noticeable. Extended child’s poses have become deeper. Supine twists don’t feel like I’m tearing my innards apart. Down dogs even feel relaxing, especially if they appear after planks.
And as mentioned before, YWA has also improved my running! I somehow do not need to use my foam rollers as much as I used to. I am also much more conscious of my breath when running.
So let us know how you have found you have improved and if you are up for joining us in April for RENEW!
Look out for the new set of links and calendar tomorrow!
Happy working out everyone!

Hi CBDB! Move was definitely fun and a step up from last month’s Bridge. I enjoyed it, and I’ve done something funny - I’ve begun videoing myself on Time Lapse which is a hoot! It condenses the whole practice into about 20 seconds. 🤣 Just a bit of fun, and it’s useful to freeze frame the replay if there’s a pose where I want to check out my form.
That fast vinyasa one from a couple of days ago though ...... I just about kept up, but only because I kept concentrating. 😳😅 That was so funny to watch back. 😅
Obviously I’ll be carrying on and doing Renew. A day feels incomplete without yoga! 🥰
Oh wow! Time laps! Is there an app for that? Now that is dedication! And sounds like fun! 👏👏🙌🙌👍🏽⏲
Yeah, the fast flow a few days ago was something. I saved it for that special moment where I just don’t want to go slow, but boy ... it was fast.
Great! See you at RENEW! I’m so delighted to know you’re in! It’s great knowing that a few of us are having similar Yoga experiences on the same days! 🙏🧘🏽
It’s the time lapse setting on my phone’s camera, it records like a fast video! My daughter used it in the past and I thought I’d have a go. It’s definitely amusing to watch back! 🤣🤣
Another month! I am still having to pick and choose... anything that involves neck too much is an issue and I have to adapt! But... we will see what April moves are:)Small runner in training was with me when I was showing her planks... she told me my back was a bit saggy ! Her downward dog is amazing has been since she was tiny! Oh the joys of childhood... thanks you!

Ha, yeah! I’d be proud of sagging planks! 🤣 So 👍🏽🙌💪.
I still have the memory of doing pretty much most of all poses when I was younger, without even knowing yoga. But then came pregnancy and illness. Sounds somehow bleaker than it felt.
But now rediscovering everything again through running and S&F is fabulous!
Yoga is so good and small one has done it with Mama and me sometimes since she was small...I think for me.. the relaxation aspect is paramount at this moment in time... I just find even 10 minutes can ease the whizzing thoughts? It is like some of my daily exercises, short, low impact but making a real difference

Yes, I really now like the meditative moments in cross legged position, just focussing on posture and breath. And I’m actually quite pragmatic and usually don’t like anything esoteric. But Adriene’s way of facilitating meditative moments is so casual, that it breaks down any barriers. For the same reason, I appreciate that she has such a neutral environment around her.
I know I’ve not kept up with daily practice...partly because I’ve made it to 10K...and no less than 3 times this month! So I have been tired and also mindful of my knees.
Also, I must confess, because mine are always evening practices....sometimes I run out of time (because faffing about), and I look and think “oh no...30+ minutes, no time”....or you guys have posted earlier that it’s a tricky one, and I’ve been put off. 🤦🏻♀️
...but even so, this is the most that I have persisted with yoga ever! I do enjoy it, and I feel it helps me wind down as part of a bedtime routine...my sleep hygiene has been dreadful in the past 🙄
So bring on RENEW!

For March I have been picking and choosing my practices from YWA Revolution calendar and the Move calendar. I ended up doing yoga about every second day. For April I will try to increase the frequency. I find that helps with my running as well. Also, my very weak arms are becoming stronger.
I’ve found this one challenging at times due to the speed Adrienne has progressed through the session. Having said that I really enjoy time in the Yoga 🧘♀️ mat each day and it’s really helped with breathing when struggling with a run. I’m definitely more flexible in the hips, and my knees are stronger too.
I have fallen from the ywa wagon the last couple of months. Life has been jammed with stuff and I simply haven't had time. I tried to do a few of the short morning ones, but that was it. I now have a bad back and can't help wondering if that might not have happened if I had still been doing daily yoga. In fact, I even wonder if stopping may have made it worse than if I'd never done it in the first place. I'll never know. I will try to dip in and out of Renew, but I'm not able to put the pressure of a daily commitment into my frenetic life just yet. Have fun everyone 😊

Thank you! And yes, take good care of yourself and your back. It sounds like pain, which I can imagine is annoying especially as the good weather has arrived. So wishing you speedy recovery! And wishing you a wonderfully relaxing Easter!
YWA is Yoga with Adriene. Adriene Mishler is a Yoga instructor who releases a daily yoga practice and a monthly calendar of daily yoga practices. Many of us are now following this calendar, now in April’s RENEW. Link for our “virtual yoga mat” is pinned but also here: healthunlocked.com/strength...
