🎄Today had to be the day to do the last 10min workout of my Advent week, and it had to be the Christmas Zumba!
💪Lindsay Jay calls herself “an international wellness presenter, specialising in yoga, dance and fitness”, and until 5 years ago was based in London, then relocating to live in Ibiza as a personal trainer, also doing Yoga retreats and Zumba classes.
📽Her YouTube channel does have a lot of Zumba choreographies, which do look like fun and always look easier (to me) than they are. She also has some yoga to music videos, if that is anyone’s thing.
📚I had to look up Zumba. I had heard people taking up Zumba classes but I did not actually know where it originated or what it was. So a look at Wikipedia told me that Zumba is a total-body cardio and aerobic workout which uses only sixteen core steps and four basic rhythms. It was founded in 1998 by Pérez, an aerobics instructor from Colombia who forgot to bring his regular music to his aerobics class, but happened to have Latin dance music. Fitness videos followed in 2001 and by 2015 the company had 14 million Zumba students in 186 countries. ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zumba )
💃🏽Lindsay Jay’s Christmas Mix is certainly fun, warms you up and you think you almost will get the hang of it as the steps do repeat. But it is very fast without any instructions, rather only thing to do is follow her lead. Fun it is, but a slower more instruction based video workout might be better to get you into Zumba.
🕯But this was the last of the Advent workouts. So I am laying this season of workouts to rest.
🧘🏽But from the pic you can probably tell I’m looking forward to January, where I’ve signed myself and hubby up to the 30 day YWA challenge (‘Breath’), and I’ll be using my new Yoga Mat (Knee-friendly double thickness! Mmmmhhhh ...).
.... oh yes, and I got hubby another massage roller (the ‘stick’), but he said I can use it! 😁😁😁
Happy working out into the new year, everyone!
