So I sneaked out during my lunch break to do this workout by Bodyfit by Amy (recommended to me some time ago by Oldfloss . Thank you!). It’s a 16 minute Standing Low Impact Legs Workout, promising “No Squats or Lunges!”.
And if you think this would be an easy workout, you’re in for a surprise.
The slow repeats of lifting of legs in all sorts of directions really works most muscles I am aware of, with legs going forwards, sideways, backwards with pulses here and there. And as promised it’s easy on the knees (no lunges) whilst strengthening exactly those muscles that will protect your knees in the future.
Finishing with some simple stretches, you know you’ve been working out your legs at the end!
So a great one to have in one’s repertoire of workouts!
Happy working out everyone!

Yes, I think I have gotten quite a few links from you, but at the beginning I didn’t keep record who recommended these to me. But I’ve benefited immensely from these recommendations. They kept me going.
Nice! How was it? (I simply love my foam roller, but before starting to run I was poopooing the idea, considering the different types of foam rollers a marketing ploy. Boy, was I wrong!)
You use a roller pre run?? I have started doing drills with high knees skips and lunges and they are good and oh btw try doing all the exercises going backwards, with arms. Let me know if your brain copes...
Ha ha! But but but 🤣🤣 just thinking about doing them backwards does my head in! 😅 And how do you make the video go backward! 😱😂😂
Rollers, I haven’t used them pre-run although I’ve read somewhere that they warm up your muscles nicely. But most advice I’ve come across suggests post-run, and in my thinking that makes sense, as to protect our joints we actually need tight muscles for running. But I really don’t know the science behind it.
Yeah I thought roller before was weird and I think slow walk run and some dynamic stuff is the best. The worse for me was backwards lunges moving back with arms... i was like which is it and then sometimes nearly fell over because I couldn’t decide fast enough which leg to use. 🤣 you do one forward and then one backwards.. have a go and let me know. It’s very funny
Wow, I’ll need to see if there are any finger exercises! (Chopin had famously a scary-looking machine to strengthen his fingers for playing the piano, I wonder if that works for knitting also... 🤣🤣)
thanks for posting this, I will definitely give this a go since I find my knees and right sore hip can take lunges and deep squats nowadays, unfortunately, this looks good

Yes, me too. So my search for workouts tend to be gentle on the joints and there is a lot out there. So that’s great for us! Fab!
Double bill for me today, after the winter wonderland with Lucy I came and tried this workout too. Boy, you can really feel this! great option without the lunges and squats, it didn't hurt my knee at all, and it gave the hip a workout (some of these moves even echo my hip physiotherapy exercises) without being too painful for my hip. Think I might feel it in my glutes tomorrow

Ha ha yes. You would think a workout that doesn’t get you out of breath is not that hard! Boy, was I wrong, as well. 😀
I know, you think how hard can it be... omg hard. Thanks for reminding me of the name i wanted to do it again tomorrow. There is another similar one whixh is a good variation. That one does include lunges but still ... enjoyable
Ooooh nice one to try. I really dislike lunges 🤔. I was going to try the squat one you posted about, but maybe this one will be the one. We'll see what I feel like doing tonight. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I’m with you on lunges. Squats I can do, as well. Not sure if that is just age or weight, as I don’t have arthritis, but lunges are definitely difficult for my knees! Go you! 👍🏽👏🙌
I have been doing yoga with Adriene every day since March but was short on time today so I tried the 10 minute standing abs workout, easy moves and the time flew by - no tummy muscles were harmed either 😊
Nice! Yes, I will have to do Adriene more seriously soon, I’ve done a few separate workouts and I can definitely tell why she is so popular! Well done! 👏👍🏽
Brilliant thanks, I'm definitely going to give this a go. I reckon with all the different things in now doing, my running is getting so much better and faster!! 😁🏃♀️
Just found this, wow, that was quite demanding although it looked so easy! This will be my go to exercise when the weather is too bad to go out for a run. Today there is snow!
Thank you for sharing
