Planks. Good or bad?

Morning all. Finding this page really useful, so thanks for all the suggestions and comments. Quick question. I need to do some work on my core and am wondering if it’s safe for me to do planks. I had a moderate heart attack back in July and do some exercise every day, however, it’s been suggested that planks might not be ideal as I may unwittingly hold my breath whilst doing them. Would I be better off doing other core exercises? Thanks.

I’ve never done planks (yet).

I was quite at a low level of fitness and did the Str & Fkex podcast program nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/g... which is great for overall fitness and strength.

And this following page has a lot of workouts, which I’m working my way through nhs.uk/conditions/nhs-fitne...

So sorry not to be able to answer about planks. But we’ll done so far and hope you find the perfect workout.

The plank is good, but you must breathe. Relax and breathe. Focusing on something else will aid in your duration.
