Hi, I'm usually on the couch to 5k forum. I'm 59 years old, reasonably fit (swimming, badminton, yoga, hill walking) and I've recently completed the couch to 5k. In the last two weeks I've had a problem with my left hip, inside at the top of my leg. I do some dynamic warm up stretches, start off fine, but after about 2k I start getting a cramping feeling in the joint (?). I stop, do some wide leg rotations, the cramping goes. I run again, but after another 1k it starts again, and so on until the end of the run.i don't feel it at all at any other time.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone recognise this? Thanks

The hip is connected to (and affected by) so many different muscles. I've had 'hip' pain, although it wasn't my hip joint but a ligament in the area of my hip (the TFL) that was sore. I saw a physio who gave me glute strengthening exercises and the pain did disappear. If it persists you would be as well trying to see a physio or sports therapist who can pin down exactly what is leading to your pain and give you appropriate exercises. If the pain worsens, rest is possiby in order until you can see someone. In the meantime, maybe take a look at some of the 'body part' posts on here and have a go at some of the glute strengthening exercises so long as they don't aggravate anything. Good luck, and speedy recovery
