I am now 87 !! And have led a very active life. I write biographies and illustrate them in books (Blurb and Photobox).
But now I am only able to walk a few yards before being totally out of breath. I am hoping that specific exercises will make an improvement to my condition!

Welcome to our forums, the Stregnth and flex podcasts are a great sources of movement, but you might be better suited to starting off with our walking for health forum, we have a few who have been through exactly what you have and are doing really great at building up their steps a day. The podcasts start off with a 30 min walk included. Please feel free to come on to our walking forum, we have a help sheet for new beginners on the other forum in the pinned posts .
Hi, Yvonne, and welcome to the group. Because of your age I think you need to be very careful of taking up more exercise without getting the o.k from your doctor first. I'm nearly your age and, without asking, started some quite extensive cycling this year. I felt I'd done quite well but then felt shattered for about three days afterwards. I'm still doing the exercise but at a much more restricted level and feel fine now.
As you say you can walk a few yards without a problem why not try increasing it just a very little at a time. Today your few yards plus 2, then a few yards plus 4 etc. Your body should then be able to gradually work up to your needs.
