You too, could have a body like mine.....

Whether you could actually want one, of course is a completely different matter:)

Hi every one... I do not usually post selfies...but, this is me... last year...last October actually..( look at that sunshine ), in Wales, just after running a 10K.

Now, before you think that I am completely narcissistic... there is method in my madness.

Now we have all noted the news that our incredible leader Realfoodieclub , has stepped down after 10 + incredible years; where she has worked passionately and tirelessly for us... we are in the throes of change. The Admins are working together to develop and enhance all the wonderful strategies, which have made our forums so fantastic...and come up with new ideas too. So you may find some of us popping up in the most unexpected places... and there may be new faces and names appearing soon too.

Hence; here I am !

I have got the opportunity to work with the wonderful UnfitNoMore , on this forum as well as Couch and Bridge :)

So this is by way of an introduction to those runners, who have as yet, not had the ... err ... pleasure ??? of meeting me.

I am the Original Grey Snail...although latterly, my shell has got lighter,my trails have got longer and my snail speed has increased a tad:)

I am going to be appearing here, now and then, and sharing some thoughts with you, to help with the strength and the stamina we need to keep us running. In conjunction with the ideas already here too:)

I will be posting with some ideas for simple regimes, that you can use to suit the level of running you are on. Exercises for some of your rest days... daily simple routines and some, dare I say, aimed specifically at the slightly more seasoned runner amongst us...( I am 69) :)

I shall be leaving the heavier exercise work and the technical stuff to those more qualified to advise!

The photo is there, merely to demonstrate that, by using regular strength and stamina exercises, we can keep our body healthy and strong, injury free and, hopefully in tip-top condition, and that in turn ensures our running is the best and most enjoyable it can be :)

Please... watch this space:)

Good post from you Floss, so that wonderful photograph is you just after running a 10K, great, 😊👍.

I seem to be getting into the habit of running a 10K every other Wednesday, especially now that I have graduated to Graduate10.

Looking forward to further posts from you and UnfitNoMore here on Strength and Flex. 😊

How do you graduate to Graduate10 pls?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorr in reply to SpanishShuffle

Hi SpanishShuffle, to graduate to Graduate10 you have run a 10K, I suppose the difference between the two is that with C25K you need to run 3/30 minute runs in week 9 of C25K, with Graduate 10, you only have to run one 10K to graduate 🎓

So I've got an off-the-wall question: how do you manage colds or getting sick? Would you run anyway with a cold? and how long after something more wretched--like the flu, for example? The reason I'm asking is that I got my son's cold.... : (

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministrator in reply to LiisaM

The general rule..above the neck...fine..as long as you dan breathe easily..below the neck and on the chest, no.

Flu.. true flu..you need to fully recover and then take a week to recuperate and feel really well.

If you are on antibiotics you don't run until you gave finished the course:)

For me, If I feel a cold coming on, I dial it all down a notch, mainly because I have gone out with a slight cold pushed myself on a run and next day sore throat, runny nose the lot rather than just a sniffle. I find just taking it easy for a week (walking only sometimes). I can just pick up the pace the next week. I hope it goes soon for you, Rfc x

Welcome Oldfloss... absolute pleasure to have you over here and to work with you.

I did my first 10k not long after that photo... but I wasn’t quite so energetic afterwards... you’d only have been able to get a shot like that of me if there was a forklift involved 🤣

You always come back stronger and have gone on to achieve so much...💪I'd love it if you share your ideas and strenghening regime with us, and knowing you are watching over us will help to keep me invested in this important side of my running. I need prodding!
