I just looked it up on NHS and depends how bad it was .. take a look .. should heal and start light EXCERCISE .. maybe done too much too quickly .. wish you luck .. sitting here bored with it elevated..can't bend toes to knee yet or do circles but getting there .

I'm also the same- torn ligament in ankle nearly. 5 weeks ago now.. I am able to walk a bit. - slowly and with a limp..got no help whatsoever from GPs, tho she confirmed it wasn't broken... But as I'm self employed I returned to work after 3 days, which I'm sure hindered recovery. I do Zumba, which I've not returned to yet, and I've so missed it- the exercise and the enjoyment. I have been doing yoga though... I'm in my 50s btw!

Hi! Have you tried balance training? I've done it for my ankle injury. A 10 week program, really helped to improve function and reduce pain! Give it a try :)

Hi there how are you doing after this time has passed? Did you have an MRI scan to check for any ligament tears? I am asking because two weeks ago I had a bad ankle sprain and x Rays didn't show any fractures but it is painful and can't bear weight so I was wondering should I get an MRI done. I also don't know how I can get crutches to walk on as no-one mentioned this when I went to the hospital and GP surgery. After trying daily gentle stretches of my foot, I am suffering quite a bit the next day. So worried that I am never going to heal properly. All the websites seem to point to 6--8 weeks for healing time, sometimes more. In my case I have joint hypermobility syndrome so I can take a long time to heal. Any help anyone?

Thanks
