While weight loss, gentle knee friendly exercises and anti inflammatory medicines can help, sometime you need to explore surgical options. Have you talked to your doctor about next steps?

I’d talk to your GP about knee surgery. Knee replacements last many years and can give you a pain free future. Of course, it hurts after surgery but the pain reduces and is a different kind of pain to arthritic pain. I have a partial knee replacement which has been wonderful. I walked 100,000 steps on my replacement knee this week. Your current situation with pain and lack of mobility does not seem a happy one.

Hi SuperSnapper I'm curious how you know you did 100,000 steps and if this is from a fitness tracker, how else is the tracker helping you?

Hi, I have a Fitbit and try to do at least 10,000 steps per day. Sometimes I do long walks up to 5 miles and then a short walk. Other days it’s several short walks. This week I have some free days so have been doing several longish walks each day. It all builds up but the most important thing is daily walking. The tracker also records swimming and cycling. It acts as my conscience!

that is really interesting - conscience! it sounds like you made a good routine for exercise. Did you doctor or other care provider suggest it or was it your idea?

No, I’ve been walking for ages. I’ve head the Fitbit 2 since January and have been increasing my distances since then. It also is set to tell me 10 minutes before the next hour that I need to do 250 steps before the hour is up. I find that useful when I’ve been sitting. I have arthritis generally, can’t take painkillers for a medical reason and so I walk to keep the pain reduced. It works for me.

Hi

Have you had a consultation with a massage therapist, acupuncturist, or a physical therapist? What nutritional strategies or nutritional supplements have you tried or are using currently? How’s your weight? Your sleep? What movement or exercise are you doing on a regular basis? Biking , swimming? Lastly what are you doing to decrease inflammation and stress in your system?

I ask all of these questions in order to see what selfcare strategies or treatment approaches could benefit you now?

Being tired and fed up with the pain and the loss of function are good reasons to reach out!

Lastly what injection type treatments have you tried ?
